From what i understand they are doing a complete renovation in october. I’d have to imagine all of the recognition Metairie CC is getting nationally for restoring Raynors work isn’t sitting well for their membership. Anyways, does anyone know who they are hiring, or have specific details on the project.

I haven’t heard a single person mention the Metairie reno outside of this board.

Have played it 6-7 times since renovation. It’s top tier in Louisiana when in condition. I’d put it against any course in LA at the moment Including squire.

Played Squire yesterday, that last freeze must have really hurt it.

Squire benefits from having such good land but Fazio is meh. MCC > Squire. It may be a hot take, but MCC does more with less. Meaning that it is literally below sea level (on dead flat land),and from top to bottom, has a way deeper collection of great golf holes compared to Squire. Squires got a great front 9 but the back is nothing special, with some pretty forgettable holes. I’m not saying Squire is not a bad course by any means, it’s just that for how good the land is, it could be better. More than anything, it’s an indictment on the Faz and how bad Louisiana golf is.

They definitely look down on MCC and view it as the backup plan country club for the people who won’t get into NOCC. Their membership definitely doesn’t like the fact that MCC has a better course and there’s a reason this renovation plan has been put on the fast track

From what I understand this Reno has been scheduled for a few years. And I don’t think MCC has a better course. But that’s just me.

I know that their greens are near the end of their life at NOCC, and that they were going to have to shut down for a year to tear out the old grass and put new grass in. From what I understand, they probably could’ve had them last for another 2-3 years, which makes the timing of this suspicious. Also, if the price tag of this reno is as high as I’ve heard floating around, it’s a lot more than work on the greens.

I think it’s just a re grass. They are doing a total renovation of the entire facility. I’m sure that is the price you heard floating around. Have fun at MCC - I will enjoy Squire

Golf week has the private courses ranked as such for 2022:

1. Squire
2. BRCC
3. Money Hill
4. NOCC
5. CCLA

Metairie not even listed. Those five are all tough to beat but after the Reno MCC really is a nice course and would have expected it to be a top five private course. I just don’t know who it would jump except maybe Money Hill or NOCC.
