The bluffs being closed is a crime! Louisiana is a cemetery for golf courses!

Good golf and shithole states do not do well together.

It seems that way. I was expecting maybe 20 or 30 being named. We're over 50 now and odds are there are quite a few more that just aren't being mentioned/forgotten about.

You can add Indian Hills Country Club in Opelousas to the list.

I applaud your ability to maintain the same schtick across multiple boards if nothing else.

Added it to the list. Was only seeing City Park South, which I guess used to be called Bayou Oaks as well, but found this one. Looks like it closed in 2011.

Unfortunately it’s not without merit:

You're correct, edited it.

There is bound to be more that aren't mentioned in New Orleans. Hard to imagine there are more that have closed in Baton Rouge and Shreveport than New Orleans.

You have Squirrel Run on there. Isn’t it now Cane Row?

Also Dumas is now technically Clark Park right or were Dumas and Clark two separate courses at one time?

Lake Providence CC in Lake Providence (they are trying to get this one back going I believe).

I played there Memorial Day weekend (don’t ask why). It was in very rough shape.

Also, I don’t know if it is closed permanently, but I went by Oakland Plantation @ LSUA & there was a sign on the door that said they were closed indefinitely. I talked with the guy that ran it a few years ago & he said the land was needed for campus expansion. So I would guess it’s done.

Looks like that's right. When I googled about it it just showed that it closed in 2019 for financial reasons and was still closed. Didn't see about a name change reopening.

I'm not sure buy trying to do some digging. I figured people would really only list courses that were permanantly closed, not just stuff that has been renamed/remodeled

Found this but I'm not familiar enough with any of them to really tell what's going on...

quote:

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - BREC’s newly renovated J.S. Clark Golf Course will re-open to the public beginning Monday, May 1, 2023. The course originally opened as a short 9-hole course in 1954 and closed in March of 2021 for renovations. The completion of this project represents a dramatic step forward for J.S. Clark Golf Course and BREC Golf as a part of Phase 1 of the Greenwood Park and Baton Rouge Zoo Master Plan. BREC plans to host an official opening to celebrate the renovations in July.

J.S. Clark is one of BREC’s two 9-hole golf courses, the other being City Park Golf Course. With Dumas Golf Course closing in conjunction with the re-opening of Clark, BREC continues to operate five golf courses across the agency. For more information on future improvements at Greenwood Park, visit //brec.org/ReimagineZooGreenwood.

Spent many an hour there ( La Tech) in the 70's. Manager used to let me dive the pond on last hole (i think) and collect balls. I remember going to Sandy Hills in the early 70's with my dad. Good times.
