In the clip, you can see his ball flies in the front tree in the group, yet he his looking with binoculars into another tree. Yet, he says that it was 100% his ball and only has to take unplayable vs a lost ball.

If I mark my ball with a blue circle and I see a blue circle prov1x left dash that I play, I will say it’s 100% mine as well.
The Chief referee also said it was.

If you were then shown video of your ball coming to rest 20-30 feet from the ball you identified and played, would you then DQ yourself for playing the wrong ball?

No. Did they go back and say Devonte Smith didn’t make the catch in the Philly game right now?
At the time it was the correct ruling.

I watched this live. If it wasn’t Reed it wouldn’t be a thing. I didn’t see anything wrong with what was going on.

This by itself probably wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but Reed continuously finds himself in these situations and his reputation does him no favors.

Oh I don’t disagree - kind of makes my point.
That being said, I’m not sure how Reed - positively identified his ball but either way his ball was just in the other tree, wouldn’t really change the hole.

You obviously have it out for him or LIV but the rules official made the call..you headlining a thread is just petty and misleading like the media trying to paint a narrative when it just is not there.

You guys trying to ride for Fat Pat? Dude obviously cheated with that bunker sweep job and Theresa no way his ball was embedded at Torrey a couple years ago because it bounced and then landed in a different spot. I mean this guy absolutely deserves to be watched over like a hawk.

Rules official deferred to Reed saying that he was 100% certain that it was his balk because of some BS. Obviously it was not his ball.
So regardless of the original ruling based on the statement from Reed, he should have been DQed for playing from the wrong spot based on available TV video.

I've made this comment in a previous post regarding Reed and cheating: A very close relative of mine was the commissioner of the LA High School Athletic Association and he told me that when Reed was playing at U-High, he had more calls and complaints about him cheating than any other team or person and it wasn't even close.

Once a cheater always a cheater. Followed him to UGA as well.

Tour players have been retroactively penalized for things plenty, even when they’ve relied on the on-course rules official’s word

You guys should call in like those grumpy effers of yesteryear would. The saddest thing is the PGA would listen assess the penalty after review then DQ the player for incorrect scorecard. Craig Nelson kneeling on his towel to keep his from getting muddy caused a blowhard to call in and cite a rule saying he built a stance. DQed

For the inevitable debate of LIV v PGAT I would have loved to see FatPat (or any LIV to win). I know I’m in the minority but I love the added element of the LIV guys in some of the big tournaments.

You know to this day Tom Watson says Gary Player Cheated during a round. They do not like each other to this day.

I played a 4ball years about and we were in the championship flight and had to go 2 extra holes to lose. We lost because the other team put the cart in front of our vision and next thing you know the one player still in play had a better swing at the ball then up against the bush that me and my partner saw.
Stuff happens that nobody can see. Even with Cameras everywhere. The times Reed has been accused of cheating he has corrected his card and not been disqualified. So I guess that's is called NOT CHEATING.
