While humerus, the stories seem to reinforce the FIGJAM nickname. How can anyone not like Phil? Doesn’t everyone love people who brag about themselves? He also wears expensive clothes and talks about how much they cost, I love people (mostly women) that do that..

I used to hate him, but his whole persona has become a bit. If you don't think he's knows exactly what he's doing with all that shite, you're crazy. When you just lean into it it's hilarious

Just because he's turned his arrogance and boasting into his thing for the media doesn't really help in my eyes. I think it depends on who he's trying to get to like him. Does it help to get people like us, who read stories a few times a year of the things he says that are humorous enough to print? Sure. However, how about his colleagues, who have to listen to him boast all the time? I would imagine they would have a different take. Maybe Mickelson is more complex than I give him credit for and expresses some humility and self deprecation to balance it out in private but the feeling I get is he is the classic insecure guy who compensates by bragging.

One can see how he earned the nickname “FIGJAM”.
He isn’t well liked among the pros.
One pro put it as “He’s the douche named ‘Chad’ in the movie about high school, with a pink sweater tied around his shoulders and his shirt collar flipped up.”

When he infamously blew the US Open by double bogeying the 18th hole he stood out in front of a gallery and tv cameras and said, “I’m such an idiot.”

Mickelson is one of the least liked players on the tour. Ask any professional golfer. I have asked several and they all have the same opinion. Douchebag. His act is all a show. I will never respect him for the way he treats fellow players behind the scenes.

Using an example where his ego clearly cost him the crowning achievement of his career is quite ironic. Humility would have been not pulling driver on 18. His “humility” afterwards was most likely ego damage control because if he calls himself an idiot others in the media would be less likely to do so for fear of seeming like they are piling on

Reed is a douche, Mickelson, eh, he's alright. Earlier during a tournament in which Reed was playing I watched him play a couple of holes on the golf channel. It wasn't long after one of his douchey moves while playing golf. Reed has a long birdie putt and makes it. He walks to the hole all proud and cocky after making the birdie and someone in the crowd hollars, "I Love You Billy". There was silence for a few seconds and then one of the announcers kinda of laughs and say, Billy is Reeds caddie.
