Has always been one of my favorite courses. Played this afternoon after the crowd died down and still managed to get bottlenecked multiple times and the course was rough. Bunkers were unkept, the rough areas weren’t touched in a while and the fairways and greens used to be much nicer than they were today. I spend a lot of money and time out there, and I think today just pushed me to get a membership to a private course closer to my house. I hope management can get it back on track

LOL! Played yesterday and one group took off to the old number 1 tee box only to see the hole 10 sign. So the guy goes in the clubhouse and comes out a said they changed it up, then proceeds down the cart path towards 9/old 18. All I could do was shake my head.

Don’t think I’ve ever played a course that doesn’t finish at the club house.

While I completely agree the 1 tee box switch is silly, I think if the course time management was done well and the course was kept as nice as it was in the past, the Front 9 back 9 change wouldnt impact me choosing to play there.

I know they changed pros there in the last few months. Might have something to do with the change.

That’s pretty surprising, the last few times I played the conditions were great. It’s been a few months though.

This would be ashame. Another poster was on here saying English Turn is going downhill.

Audubon potentially closing
English Turn and Carter going downhill

That’s 3 of my favorite courses. Hope they all get it together.

I dont think it a fair to throw the bunkers in there. Bunkers are shite most places right now with Covid. Ive played a few courses last couple months and bunkers are all shite with no rakes.

Not being able to rake after you hit into one, and the ground crew not raking them are 2 different things

ETA: it is impossible for them to be worse than Atchafalaya's bunkers tho

Sad to see about atchafalaya. Not sure what it would take to get conditions back.

All these courses need money and right now its in tight supply....everybody wants country club conditions with goat ranch muni green fees....shite doesn't work like that....my neighbor owns a golf course it costs him $100,000/month out of his pocket...in addition to the 6 million he's spent in capital improvements in last 2 1/2 years...

I agree with some of this, but rounds are way up right now. If your course isn't doing well financially this year (outside of the times it was shutdown), I'm not sure when your course will do well.

This is a bad post. Yes golf courses are extremely expensive to keep up with. It’s an extremely expensive sport and If you want consistent business then you better put out a consistent nice golf course. Why do people complain about spending money on these golf courses then complaining? Well i can tell you, 65-75 bucks here gets you on some fairly mediocre golf courses that we think are nice. Then you got to literally any other state and play their public courses and you realize the type of dumps Louisiana has throughout the state that they over charge for. Especially South Louisiana. I went up to Indiana to visit my wife’s family and played a course called The Fort. I paid 60 bucks to play. I couldn’t believe how nice that course was for that type of money. First off Louisiana couldn’t even have that type of layout and 2nd of all it was more manicured than most private country clubs that I’ve ever been to. The quality produced everywhere else is much greater than the quality being produced here. But you pay the same.

that 100,000 is for a club with 300 dues paying members... Hell that Squirrel Run in New Iberia has the 3rd largest sugar cane farmer in La as it's owner hence chemicals should be cheaper...and with HB2A workers for maintenance he's losing about $40,000 a month....something will have to change...green fees need to go up and that $200 month unlimited golf and cart fees is way too cheap if you want better playing conditions...

The Fort is own by the state of Indiana...most state owned golf courses are in great shape if the local state politician is a golfer you can bet your arse he is making sure the operating budget is sufficient to keep course up..

Brother, I’m not sure what country club you’re paying 200 a month with cart fees included. But it can’t be that nice. He’ll, Beau Chene is over 300 a month and you have to pay cart fees out of pocket.

After moving back to kc it is crazy how poor the Public golf is in Louisiana. I play courses up here that are anywhere from $35 - $65 for morning 18 hole tee times on the weekends that are better kept and better layouts than what you see in south Louisiana.
