Anyone played contraband bayou or the golden nugget course recently? Got a trip over there coming up and was trying to figure out which one is in better condition.

Been a couple of months for me so I dont know about current conditions. Nugget is MUCH better than Contraband IMO.

My dad plays Contraband Bayou fairly often. He said the greens are in great shape, best he can remember it being. He sounded like he really liked the status of it. It's always in decent shape when I play it as well.

I have not personally played Golden Nugget nor know anyone personally who has much experience on it. I've heard it's nice but pretty expensive.

Nugget is way nicer but still not worth the green fees. Both are in good shape right now though.

I've played in 3 tournaments over the last 2 yrs @ Golden Nugget, and has never cost me to enter. Its a nice course, but if the green fee with cart is more than $50, I'd pass...

I played it a couple times with a buddy who’s on the grounds crew, so I didn’t have to pay, but at the time he said it was about $130-$150. This was a year ago.

IMHO, it's not a $130-$150 experience...

Personally I would go Grey Plantation or the National over either of them.

I enjoyed Golden Nugget. It’s got some neat holes. Especially coming down the stretch.

But agree with those who say isn’t worth $150. We got a group discount for $100.

Gray plantation is a nice track for a lot less money.

Played both this week Contraband is in good shape Nugget is better but not worth $130 imo. That National is better than both followed closely by Gray. Lots of good choices over their these days

Played both at the end of April.
I was told Contraband used to be solid prior to GN arrival. Not the case any longer when comparing the two. GN much superior to Contraband and IMO some of the best greens in the state.

I don't think anyone who has played both thinks Contraband is close to nugget in terms of quality. Nugget is just crazy expensive to play unless you can get on cheaper. 100+ for any course in LC is pretty crazy imo.

Middle of May some buddies and I played both. Nugget was the much better course IMO, but the amenities were better at Contraband.

The Nugget doesn't even have a driving range. It's ok playing there if you are staying there and can get the green fee comped or discounted, but to actually drive up and play either is dumb. Not worth it.

And they charge $150 to play? Screw that. Why would anyone do want to do that?

You have to go over to Contraband to hit range balls
