Playing in mid August and never played there. What can I expect?

Don't say heat and humidity. . . . .

Not a fan, it's hard which is fine but 18 and another par 5 are stupid.

Hole 9 and the 15-18 stretch can really kill a round.

18 is one of the dumbest and worst holes in the country

Front nine is pretty tame. Back nine is a little tougher. 18 layout was designed by someone on crack. It is my least favorite of the remaining 3 courses which begs the question, why not play the Forest or Lakes?

Obviously Deerwood blows away the stuff at the main club but of those 4 I liked Marsh most. I've played Kingwood more times than I can count and I never remember any of them ever being in really good shape.

Keep your head on a swivel in your cart around the clubhouse/practice area. It’s a zoo.

I saved bogey on 18 after hitting my tee ball in the water. One of my proudest golf achievements

Well the Marsh doesn’t exist anymore. After the flood and the hurricane last year that knocked down over 1,000 trees they said screw dealing with maintenance on 4 courses so they turned it into a practice course for like 4 holes. All the resources now go to the remaining 3 but they are getting abused. Deerwood is out of commission until the Fall while they are getting new greens so all the Deerwood people are now slumming at Kingwood. Plus they seem to have a gigantic tournament every week at Kingwood in the Spring where you get a frigging battalion of golfers that literally destroy the course. I pretty much just use the club to practice and play off the reservation.

18 was on the cover of golf digest when we moved there in 79, talking about it being one of the best finishing holes if I recall

I dropped my membership to golf last year when they jacked up dues and it coincided with a neck injury so i said frick it, im not paying 600/month to play an ok course where i can't get good tee time because they give privileges to deerwood members and play favorites with longtime members and save tee times.

Deerwood wants a 20k initiation fee now lol

I dropped my golf membership about a year ago. I just wasn’t getting my monies worth when I was playing mostly away from Kingwood anyway. Plus, I knew when the Deerwood guys showed up it was gonna be a clusterfrick. I still go up to the Forest Range a lot to practice and they typically don’t ask don’t tell if you grab a cart and go dink around on the old Marsh course.

yea a lot of my friends play less and more courses away, my kids are older so its much easier vs. when they were kids it was easy to be in and out and option for kid care at the club.

Hell now i can go play memorial for 40 bucks because kingwood is annexed by houston so we pay the locals rate.
