Not in Louisiana. Great guy, loved the fitting, seemed to know what he was doing.

The driver and shafted he fitted me into increased my distance by 40 yards, spin decreased by almost 1/2, and I was way more accurate.

Here’s my issue. The driver shaft combo he quoted me is like $900!!!!

I don’t think he’s ripping me off, I’m sure I can find a cheaper option but I do think he put me in the driver and shaft he thought performed the best.

My question is, is that what a new custom fit driver and shaft costs now a days? Am I insane to consider spending that much $$$ on a golf club?

What shaft head combo did he quote?

That price isn’t that far off the mark. Maybe a little high

The driver is the tsr2, I forget the name of the shaft but he’s emailing me all the specs.

Said the driver head is $525 and the shaft runs like $299

That’s high on the head.

Here is what I’d do. Buy the head from Edwin Watts/2nd Swing/Callaway preowned and then buy the shaft outright OR last years version.

You’d be looking at $4-500 instead of $900.

OR, find comparable heads and comparable shafts but older generations from Golfwrx reviews . Might give up 10 yards but could save $6-700.

What head do you currently have? Lofts somewhat comparable? Did you hit your current set up on his launch monitor?

What do you currently have?

What shaft did he fit you into?

I would bet money this board could get you right with a much cheaper shaft. Probably a stock option from Titleist

And how much was his fitting fee? I'd probably go buy the head and shaft on my own and get it built for way cheaper.

I’ll have to post the shaft when I get his specs emailed and y’all can help me build it cheaper

I currently have the RBZ stage 2. On his monitor I had I think 144 ball speed with average carry of 226 and 3500 rpm. Total distance avg 241

With the one he fit me into I had a 153 ball speed with average carry of 253 and 2300 rpm. Total distance avg 282

Keep in mind there are other factors than just sticking the shaft in the head. He may be adjusting swing weight, weights in the head (not sure if that driver has adjustable weights or not) and the loft lie setting. If you bought a stock TSR2 I’m assuming you’d be in for $600. So his time labor and expertise and the shaft upgrade really isn’t that much if you think about it.

Sounds like Ventus Black with Velocore.

Titleist is married to Tensei so it may be the Pro 1k shaft.

Yea that shaft is great.

There is no comp to that shaft. Only other one cheaper that could be close is Hzrdus RDX for about $200.

Ventsu velacore is legit and new is $350. They’re all over FB marketplace for $175-225.

new tsi2 head -$250 ebay

ventus shaft - $180 ebay

Add another 10-15 for adapter and 9 for epoxy

ETA: apparently theTS2 has favorable comps

wRX comp

If I added 40 yards and cut spin in half, I’m finding a way to pay the $900. If you go with something else that’s similar but cheaper, you’ll always be thinking about the one you didn’t get.

I’d expirement before spending $800.

At minimum, I’d drop a Ventus blue I. His current head and see if he can’t add 20-30. Head tech hasn’t made that big of a leap. He probably has wrong shaft in current gamer

My clubhead is 10 years old I do think it’s changed a lot.

I’m curious. Let’s say I buy the clubhead and shaft on eBay or something like posted above. How much does it cost to pay someone to put them together and where would I go for that?

Do it yourself is cheapest. Plenty of YouTube tutorials. Adapters are easiest. Most auto stores sell suitable epoxy. I’ll try to remember the one I use typically. Dicks will do it for $9 here.

Re head tech: Rick Shiels did a persimmon vs 20 years later comp and only picked up 20 yards

As long as the shaft you buy has a titelist adapter it honestly is super easy. You just need one of the little wrench’s which are easy to find.

Yea I get that.

I actually just sent him an email reply to his invoice. I told him he did a great job and I really enjoyed my experiment. But I was honest that I expected to spend $500-$700 not over $1000 when you factor in fitting fee which isn’t waved I don’t believe. I said I’m considering trying to order the parts online but would rather buy from him and if there was a similar club/shaft combo he could get me in that’s a little cheaper. Line maybe last years shaft?

We will see what he says
