That stunt he just pulled on the 18th fairway was bs. Not fair to the other 2 guys and especially not fair to Noren.

He needed an eagle to tie and waited to pull a club on a par 5. He waited 5 minutes when it was his turn and then laid up with a pitching wedge.

It's probably easier to hole a wedge from 70 yards than to chip in from behind that green. At least you have a back stop if you're coming in from in front of the water.

Probably, but he should’ve decided on that way earlier. It reminded me of the guy at a public course who drives it 250 and waits for the green to clear so he can try to hit a 3W 270.

Obviously, Holmes has the fire power, but he just went about it in a crap way.

4 minutes and ten seconds?
No, that does not.

Yes it does. Maybe not on 18 but it happens all the time out there.

Not when there is no one in front of you. At least not in the fairway. Not sure how often you watch, or how many tour events you've been to, but I can't recall seeing any player ever take THAT long.

I would say it happens almost in every group in every round on tour. Like 90% of the time.

Ssshhh most people don't understand strategy at this level of golf.

That's exactly what he was saying

Noreen damn near did it just then abs Palmer was close too on the 18th

The issue isn’t that he laid up. It’s that he took 4 min on 18 with the co leader waiting on him to decide to lay up.

He would had been too long with a 3 wood and too short with the 5 wood. Plus the wind was blowing in his face with water in front of a sloping green. Of course he was contemplating the shot. I sure a miss hit would had cost him so major cash. He ended up birding the hole and finished second.

Christ

No one is complaining that he shouldn’t have laid it up, only. I don’t care how much he had to contemplate, he didn’t need 4 minutes to figure it out.

He was intentially icing the co leader and that’s bullshite.

They weren't waiting on anyone. That doesn't happen all the time. Even the announcers were in awe of how long he took.

I disagree with this part of your statement. There was no reason for him to ice Noren. Day was already in the clubhouse at -10 and Holmes had to eagle the hole anyways which was going to be next to impossible based on where he found himself.

I think he was just being incredibly inconsiderate with the amount of time he took

this is where rules officials need to step in. They should’ve warned him and potentially penalized him. The game needs to speed up. I promise you there are idiots everywhere who are going to try to pull this crap in their weekend game now.
