Is it trashy to bring your own beer to the golf course?

Had a friend of mine give me a lecture on how courses stay in business when I showed up with my Nova Vert. Saw his point but I generally don't like the offerings at most courses. I know. I should shut up and quit being a snob...

Then why ask the question?

What kind of Muhfricka can’t enjoy a miller, bud, or Michelob on the course?

I ONLY bring my own beer to the course... not because it is snobbish (Ultra, when I'm playing)...but because after dropping $60+ on a round and another $5-$10 on a bucket.. I'm not trying to spend $4 per beer when I can buy them at the store for $1 each and save another $30 or so.
I can assure you from years working in a Pro Shop in high school and college... these places aren't paying the bills with beer sales so I don't feel guilty one bit.

Yes it's trashy to bring your own beer. If you can't afford the beer at the course you shouldn't be drinking.

Then I'm proud to be one of the trashiest morherfrickers alive. Buy a $6 beer or buy 6-pack at the gas station right across the street. They're already overcharging for the round.

AMEN! So because I am fiscally responsible with my adult beverages I now cant afford to have ANY beer?

Trashy? A little, props on the Nova Vert though.

My thoughts... unless you are playing a stroke play tourney or legit have a chance to progress your game to the next level... then golf is a leisure sport... I drink beer to relax and I play golf to relax. They naturally go together. I'm not out there shooting for a course record and don't really care if I ever do. I wont let me beer drinking get in the way of others if they want to attempt to play serious golf, but I can tell you that I will have fun and you will likely be cussing every bad shot.
Since I'm going to drink beer one way or the other... may as well save some money on it.

Me and ell_13 might agree on something after all. Who cares if I shot in 90s? I still had fun and got out with my dad, brother, or friends for a few hours. I cant understand the people that get mad when they play one round every few weeks. Unless you have range time 3 times a week and play a round every few days, don't get mad that you cant be like Phil.

If the course has a “No outside beverages or coolers” sign posted and you sneak your own beer on the course, then they should kick you off the course. If the course does not post a notice, then it’s hard to say no beer when players bring their own snacks like trail mix or something and the course also has a snack bar.
That being said . . . Yes, it is still “trashy.”

Yeah it can be two answers I guess. with buddies I'm brining my own. Tourney/work event I'll buy the course beer and go at the pace the others are.

Not sure if this redeems me or not but the last time I played Carter, the cart girl was selling Jucifer. I gladly paid.

Totally redeemed your self with the Jucifer

If that's trashy, then call me Oscar The Grouch.

Smuggling is a part of playing golf.

If the rule is no outside beverages then it's clearly trashy. Same as it's trashy to go off cart path when the course is CPO. You shouldn't get to choose what rules to follow.
With that said I usually stash some vodka in my bag and sneak it on.

I wish I could combine good play with beer drinking. I quickly devolve into worthless as far as golf goes after drinking three beers.
