Seems like they don't have anything available until afternoon every time I have looked.

Just have to book it a decent ways in advance. Check the online portal as far out as it’ll let you book and those spots start to open up.

It’s pretty much impossible.

I just show up when I want to play if solo. Hit balls till they have a group to put me in. If you are trying to get 4 off early that may present a different issue.

My buddy and I were talking about this. It is close to impossible. Every once in a while you will get lucky but don't count on it.

Not sure why but about 10 years ago it was so much easier to make a tee time regardless of the time of day or day of the week.

Yeah, I just find it hard to believe those courses are jam-packed every weekend till noon! You can get copper mill or the island at the same time pretty easily.

Bad conditions, bad pace of play and overpriced. Why anyone pays to play out there in general is beyond me

I truly feel like Baton Rouge is 2 courses short right now. With the LSU course being unplayable, they need at least one more to take the pressure off of Beaver and Santa Maria. It isn't worth it to play at these two right now.

Copper is fun but pace of play is an issue. JS clark, and webb are similar at this point. City park is what it is.

I played Santa Maria after work yesterday. It's in the best condition I've seen in years. Fairways are plush, greens roll nice. Only problem was 11 green, which had been aerated and sanded. Teed off at 5:00 and finished on 18 at 8:20.

Anyone who has issues with the conditions of Santa Maria right now is just looking to complain about something.

It’s inherently a bad layout with a price point that doesn’t justify that imo. I play private anyway so doesn’t matter to me. Muni’s around the rest of the country have way better value. Try seeing if you can get a 3 hour round in on a weekend.

I typically play with a usual group on Sunday mornings. Haven't been able to join lately due to other commitments, but over the last 5 years, I honestly can't recall more than a handful of rounds lasting over 4 hours. Most fall in the 3:30 to 4:00 range. We walk in the fall/winter/spring and ride in the summer. I see a lot of the same groups out there on Sunday.

I can't tell you the last time I played there on a Saturday morning, so things may be different then.

Bad layout?

It’s a Robert Trent Jones course.

You’re telling me that you don’t know much about golf courses with your uninformed comment.

Exactly.

I played Santa Maria yesterday for $36 prepaid to ride.

We teed off at 11 and finished at 2:30.

Last time I played out there (2 years+) they were charging $80+, 40ish sounds more reasonable though I’d still never waste my time out there. Not going to argue with someone that thinks SM’s a nice golf course

Santa Maria has never cost $80.

You’re confused or a sucker. Maybe both.

Agree. I played there yesterday and except for 11, the greens were nice and fairways were in great shape.

This board gets so weird. It’s a nice track. Not sure what’s wrong with it.
