Tee up every shot except on the greens.
Also double is your friend, pick it up.
Have fun and don't get mad.

Don't take more than 8 strokes. Pick the ball up after 8 if you're slowing down your group and a group is behind you.

Don't hit multiple balls on a crowded course.

Don’t drive the cart, try to ride with someone who knows how to navigate a golf course
Don’t stand directly behind someone’s ball while they are hitting their shot
Be still while others are playing their shots
Don’t step on others lines on the putting green

quote:If you truly suck just leave the driver in the bag and find a club you can hit straight and consistently (I'd recommend a 5-iron), and tee off every hole with that. You'll prefer 120 yards down the fairway over 150 yards into someone's backyard all day.
What are the most important etiquette and just how to conduct myself tips you can give me? I’m going to suck, but I don’t want to be annoying, also.

Practice on the range before you attempt a round.
Play your first round at a beginners course like LSU or City.
Play quickly.

Knowing what I know now I would reccomend a lesson first. Would shorten the learning curve immensely. The teacher would at least get you to making solid contact.

I played today. I’m pretty new, been playing a lot lately, can hit irons ok, driver is the ??s.. like the other guy said pick up and go on if somebodies waiting and you have been hacking the ball 10 feet.. holler fore if your about to hit somebody, have fun, it’s equally a fun and aggravating sport

Use common sense, let faster players through
And please don't play from the tips, choose a tee box that helps you. It will make the game more fun. When you get better back up your tee box.

Mind your shadow. Don't let your body or golf cart cast a shadow on another players line of sight when they are hitting. When the round is over, take off your hat, and shake each players hand in your group.

If you are playing with a group, pair up and play a scramble. You and your partner tee off and play the best drive between the two of you, rinse, repeat until you finish the hole. Probably won't use any of your shots but you will get the feel of golf and learn all of its nuances. Have fun, you can play this game for the rest of your life.

This was good. Thank you. The picking up the ball is something I wouldn’t have known.
