I played Pebble many years ago when I was still on active duty in the Air Force. I was in the Pro Shop checking in and asked if they offered a military discount? The guy said yes we do and much to my surprise he comped my round.

I’d try to have dinner at the Sardine Factory. The wine cellar is supposed to be one of the best in the world and the owner is a great character. Here’s a Golfer’s Journal Podcast with a terrific interview with him:

Played Pebble a few years ago and will probably be the only time I will be able to wear a sweeter in August! Also played Monterey Country Club. Hell of an experience!

What did you like better? PB or MP?

A friend of mine said he played MP and they didn’t allow shorts. They got his measurements and hemmed some pants up for him. Is this true?

Edit: I thought you were walking about Monterey peninsula… just noticed you said Monterey country club.

Sardine factory is good. Roy’s is excellent. Clint Eastwood has a restaurant as well that I can’t remember it’s name.

Your trip will be awesome.

At Spanish Bay, both Roy’s and Peppoli are very good. If you go into Carmel, don’t miss La Bicyclette. Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Just FYI, you will most likely need a reservation for all 3 of these.
