this has been a lame final round. U.S. Open is my least favorite major.

I was just saying that. This is an extremely boring final round. USGA really missed the mark on this one.

Crowd sucks too.

It would be fun if Fowler and Rory weren’t pussies once again. Rory is the biggest choker in the history of golf

US open has never been a birdie feat like the back nine of the Masters, but the USGA heard for years how the courses were too difficult and unfair. They got some rain and marine layer that made it soft but since then it’s only playing a few shots under par.

How do you have a 60 yard wide fairway on 18 of a US Open. Basically takes any pressure of the tee shot away.

Reminds me of when Webb Simpson won outside of S.F., Ca. Boring.

Last 6 players out

Clark-even
-Rory-even
Scheffler-even
English-+2
DJ-+2
Rickie-+4

That’s a US open. That is what everyone supposedly wanted, right?

Well Bryson proved to everyone that narrow fairways and deep rough only make it more advantageous to the bombers because hitting a wedge from the rough is a lot easier tan hitting a 7 iron…so I think the wide fairways was an attempt to neutralize the length advantage.

It was a shitty course that delivered zero drama, and the galleries were limited/sucked which provided zero energy. The way CA is going by 2038 that joint will be looted and burned down anyway.

It’s not that the bombers dont have an advantage, it’s that the advantage isn’t as great.

If you look at the last 5 or so champions they all hit it far.

I don’t know why people are so hell bent on “stopping bombers”. If it was something only big guys could do, sure, I get it

But anyone can learn to chase speed and bomb it. JT, Rory, Sargent, etc. Why are they so hell bent on taking raw athleticism and speed out of the game?

It’s just like everything else in sports: basketball determined the best strategy is shooting 3’s and Layups…baseball is homer or strikeout…golf analytics said bomb and gouge is how to win and the golf authorities don’t think it’s what the game is supposed to be…the problem is it’s too hard to keep redesigning courses to combat the insane distance. Personally, I think driver is too easy to hit because of how large it is which allows you to swing wildly without the big miss consequences. The problem with changing it though is that the modern drivers have made the game so much better for amateurs like me.

If you dialed back drivers and made it smaller, I think guys like Rory and brooks would feast even more. Dudes with power and great mechanics would just superset themselves more
