Golf Fatigue?

Anybody feel like or has tried taking a short break, couple, weeks due to game becoming stagnant? If so have you completely gone away such as not touching clubs? Just range work? Or push through. Usually play 3-4x a week and seem to be no improvement lately. 12 handica

If your goal is to get better you should be practicing a couple of those times instead of playing.
Nothing wrong with taking a break

Everyone’s different. I play a lot but some of my best rounds have been after not touching the clubs for a couple weeks. Not always the case though

I should correct I hit balls both playing and range 3-4x a week

I’ll play often for a few months at a time then back off and really just do some sporadic range work before getting back into it. My game is nothing special, so the break isn’t too damaging and it keeps me interested.

My interest sways throughout the year. Right now, Im thinking about golf 24/7 if I’m not playing. Sometimes for months at a time I’ll completely lose interest in the game, won’t touch a club, watch golf or keep up with it in any manor. It’s like it completely disappears from my mind.
I would call myself a fair weather golfer but I often find myself playing in the cold and extreme heat as well. It’s totally random and I just let it happen.

Completely agree w the above post. Going w the flow is one of the biggest mental elements to reaching a deeper understanding of the game.
If your gut tells you to take a break, do it. There will be no long lasting harm done.
On the other hand, if you get the idea after a month of grinding it out on the driving range that if you keep up this fanatical work ethic you will, indeed, (as you always suspected) be able to qualify for the Senior Tour, then to hell w work, family, relationships....dive in head first

The more I play I think sometimes mental fatigue sets in. The more you start just going through the motions the more mistakes you make that leads to strokes. That’s when I take a longer break than usual between rounds.

I took 20 months off and just came back to it in June. It helped and I have focused on improving grip and ball position since then - given me a new challenge.

I play twice a week.
It gets tough when it is brutally hot like now.
But I love it.

This. Gets tough in the summer with the heat. I usually reduce the amount of playing and focus on practice. Shorter periods outside in the heat but still keep the game sharp. Come October start playing more until the heat comes back in May/June. Our college group tries to setup a northern golf trip but the last two have been just as hot 90-100 so can’t really escape it.
Unless we go to Mauritius, wouldn’t care about the heat then.

Where are the extra shots coming from? I would do some in depth analysis

My problem with trying to practice more to fix things is I have no idea how to fix them. Once I develop some kind of kink that affects my game, I don’t know how to fix it. I usually have a couple of friends who are much better than me and understand the swing better that can help. If not for that, a 2-3 week break usually helps for me.

Have never had it. Played almost everyday in March-April during quarantine and didn't get tired of it.
Physical fatigue? I have that right now. I walked Beaver Creek yesterday afternoon in that heat and my body still hurts. And I drank 2 full jugs of water/Powerade.

It's extremely hard to fix anything unless you are getting feedback from someone or filming yourself. Buy one of those tri pod stands and film your practice sessions

I have a love/hate relationship with golf. I'll swing from one side to the other pretty frequently. I recently got back into it after some buddies came into town and we played after taking a 6 month break. Shot my PB last weekend so I am guessing it did me some good.
Keep expectations low and the beer cold.

I took about a month off, went back out yesterday and played my best round ever. It was a much needed break, mentally and financially
