Wife and I have decided to get away for labor day and we want to find a resort with great golf for me and decent spa options for her.

Any recommendations with a 5-6 hour drive of acadiana?

ETA: We looked at the Grand in Point Clear but it's booked up.

Would be interested in something in Hill country or southern Arkansas. Or mississippi if there's anything worth it.

How's Barton Creek in Austin? I don't want to go to Austin, but I wouldn't mind hanging on the resort and getting a couple rounds of golf in.

Grand Hotel

Already checked. Its completely booked.

And we've been several times so we're treating this as an opportunity to try something new

Thanks for the suggestion though

Tapatio Springs outside of San Antonio, probably a little further than you wanted to drive though.

TS-Boerne, Tx

Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, Tx just before Austin. Great golf course, spa, and lazy river.

4 Seasons @ Las Colinas Dallas

Hot Springs is an option if you want to drive from town to Hot Springs Village. Several courses there.

Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio
Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop
Tapatio Springs in Boerne

Those would be the first 3 I would look at

The first two both have lazy rivers as well if that interests you

Ross Bridge in Hoover is decent for what you are looking for. Decent food in B’ham, too.

Barton Creek in Austin

This place is awesome

Others mentioned in ATX/SA are good too. Another you can consider would be one of the biloxi casinos (no clue on spas there but surely the Beau Rivage has one). You could play Fallen Oak, Preserve, Grand Bear etc

LaCantera has a great spa wife loves it. I even got a mani-pedi !

Palmer Course is great and the resort course is fun.

Their Signature restaurant has a great rack of wild boar.

Haytts Hill County and Lost Pines are very good along with Barton Creek.

With the wife I’m going:

1. Barton Creek - Fazio courses are great, resort was just remodeled and you can Uber into downtown Austin for a nice dinner a d drinks

2. JW Marriott SA - probably the best spa of all of them

3. La Cantara SA the pool scene is great

4. Hyatt Lost Pines a bit closer but only one course

5. Horseshoe bay - to far of a drive I think

Wild card, I’ve oddly been hearing decent reviews of the remodeled Margaritaville on lake Conroe north of Houston, believe they have two linked courses.

The woodlands would be a decent choice for a closer drive as well.

Beau Rivage and Fallen Oak will be open Labor Day and a perfect spot for both! Tee times available.

I’m going to the Grand tomorrow for a couple of nights. I’m starting to waffle on golf and just make it a lazy pool trip instead. The wife will still get her massage I suppose. I was looking forward to the golf but it’s $175 and I’d be a single….just too much hassle and heat I think
