I bet JT gets Jordan on the team somehow.

No chance they ask Clark

Have you looked at the Ryder Cup rankings?

7th - JT
8th - Morikawa
9th - Griffin
10th - Bradley
11th - McNealy

8th being an off year for Morikawa is still better than just about anyone else.

I think it goes back two seasons, not just this one. But yes, his off year is still better than most. I just dont think he has a lot going for him this year.

I did not realize English jumped into the 6th spot. I think JT's spot is pretty safe. English might fall out of 6th but i think he is on the team regardless.

He hits fairways, he hits greens. He’s a good player to pair in foursomes, where he has a decent match play history.

I keep pointing it out, and folks just don’t seem to get it. Match play you can have a guy make 3 birdies, 9 pars and 6 doubles beat a guy with 5 birdies and 13 pars.

The first 2 days are 16 points. The last day (singles) is 12. You tell me what’s more important, you get the wrong chemistry you get a pair with Scheffler on it get blown out 9 and 7.

I pulled the rankings straight off their website.

Morikawa is 6th in the world rankings, for this year. Only 2 cuts he missed all year? The Scottish Open and The Open. Number of cuts missed last year? 2

What is his match play record? I tried googling it and didn't find anything.

ETA: found some Presidents cup history. He's 2-6-1. His last appearance was 16 years ago. Does he have other experience in foursomes or four-ball? I can hear arguments for his skill set being useful, but I am not seeing the history argument.

Well, regardless, i dont want him on the team. He isnt playing good and he doesnt bring any intangibles. He actually has 3 missed cuts this year and is 18th in the fedex cup. He fired his caddie so he obviously is looking for something to get back on track. Im not sure what his RC record is but i dont remember him doing much last time out.

I overlooked the Zurich since it’s not a singles tournament, nor is it a match play.

Morikawa is 4-3-1, has a winning record in both foresomes and fourballs.

Wins in the matches the US struggles in and you say that’s not bringing any intangibles. It’s like you guys want to lose.

Yep, playing very well. 23rd at US Open, Won the Scottish Open staring down Rory till the end and finished 3rd at the Open Championship. Seems to be a very strong player with a lot of confidence right now. 3 big events on tough courses under a great deal of pressure with 2 being “away” games.

McNealy.

W. Clark and Morikawa need to be left home.

I’d personally rather have a player in the Ryder Cup with more consistency. Other than the last month he was missing as many cuts as he made. I don’t think you could put him in foursomes at all.

No offense but if they roll out this team we might as well not even show up.

We should probably add “and what are your pairings for the first day”

That will matter a lot

Do we think our thoughts on these players are based off our standard of them?

Calling Morikawa arse but wanting Lucas Glover in the team doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me at the moment.
