Finding that “zone”

You know when you have that day when you just know what’s going to happen before you do it. Every iron shot you step into you know it’s finding the green, you stand on the tee and just see the ball in the fairway before you swing.

How the hell do we find that and keep it? What’s the secret? Those days where you couldn’t hit a bad shot if you tried are amazing and everything seems so simple, but then all of a sudden it’s gone.

i found my eyes pick up the ball better around dusk. i dont like to wear sunglasses when i play and maybe in the day time my eyes dont like focusing in the brighter light. golf is such a psychological game, so it is probably nothing. but i feel like i play my best when i am racing against the sunset this time of year.

I just have it almost every time I go out. Haven’t shot more than 2 or 3 over par in 2 years. An even round is pretty frustrating for me at this point.

Which tour are you on? I'd like to follow your career.

Very helpful response thanks. How do you stay in that zone of perfection you have?

In all seriousness, there's no secret to getting in that state; if there was we'd dial it up all the time. I can say this - I've been there and shot mid to low 60's when I did. The only common thread was that my mind was not clouded with personal issues and I might have had one swing thought that was really working, if that. If you've been in that zone you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Too many swing thoughts is a killer inthis game.

It's no secret that if you're searching for your swing you're gonna be searching for your ball.

Good golf is a visitor.

Shows up. It’s fun. Then gone.

I resemble that remark!

The less I think, the better. See flag, get number, pull club, swing.

Mickelson would like to find that zone and secret to it.

I think on a good day he hits 5-6 fairways lol....

No doubt, the issue for all of us though is when our swing is on it’s easy to not think. When your swing is off all you can do is think “what the hell am I doing wrong?”

I find that if you build up to a full swing in practice instead of just going full throttle from the start it is a lot easier to find the sweetspot and continue the "zone" rather than finding it again.
