1 day to play in Fairhope, what do I play? Price, difficulty not a concern. Don’t want to play a goat ranch though. Former single digit handicap but probably 11 or 12 now. Solo player. What’s my best choice?

You staying at the Grand? If so, play Lakewood. 36 holes……both of the 18’s are in primo condition.

The only other option would be Rock Creek. Nice layout but the conditions are okayish.

The above advise is spot on. I was at The Grand recently and really enjoyed the two rounds I played at Lakewood

I really like Rock Creek's layout. Don't know about the current condition.

As of last year, Rock Creek had fallen on some tough times. As in I will likely never play it again. Conditions were awful, and pace of play was 5 hours.

That’s very depressing to hear.

Been a year or 2 since I’ve last played out there but thought it was a fun 27 hole track. What happened?

The greens and fairways have been poorly kept. had a tournament there and didn't enjoy a single hole.

This is just false. If price isn't concern then Lakewood all day.

We just got notice today that there’s a green fee increase for guests staying at the Grand. The new green fee starting tomorrow is $198. That’s a stiff green fee, but the courses are in excellent shape and apparently they have enough members (800ish) to where they don’t need the resort guest play.

From what I’ve been told, the guest of a member rates aren’t changing. It’s in the 110-120 range.

That’s true. I’m a Lakewood member and while I love playing the courses, I’m starting to reconsider my membership. RSA is trying to get every single penny they can get out of the Grand/Lakewood and it’s reaching a level where it’s just not worth it at all. The courses are great but they have packed a lot of homes onto it and are trying to carve out more spots inside the course. Paving over paradise. Meanwhile dues just keep going up despite a surplus of members.

Yeah I’ve been a member for a couple years. We bought a house in the colony and have enjoyed everything very much. For what we get, I think the dues are very fair compared to what you would pay in Baton Rouge for CCL or BRCC. Only complaint for me is we don’t get over to Fairhope but a handful of times a year to take advantage of it.

We moved from Fairhope a few years back. My complaint is they shut down the Grand to members during the summer a lot. Drives me crazy.

Also no reciprocal privileges anywhere.

First world problems here…..
