Honors on the tee box? If I won the previous hole, I’d prefer to tee off last not first. Seeing other people’s ball flight, reactions would give me more insight on the wind, distance, etc. Seems teeing off first creates more disadvantage.

Leaders teeing off later in the day? Wind has picked up, course and greens are more beat up, Sun is higher in the sky, etc. This is another concept that creates a disadvantage vs a reward.

You have all the right to shoot a shitty score and tee off early on the Sunday of a tournament.

it'd be awkward for the leader to wait around all day on the tournament to finish if they teed off at 8:00.

IMO, evens the playing field. I like both rules as they stand.

I like going first of the tee. The pressure helps me focus.

The rules aren't in place to reward the players. They are in place to even the field. If you are leading, they don't want your path to get easier than the people behind you, they want it to get harder.

If you put a good shot out there it increases the pressure on your opponent. If you do it repeatedly, it frustrates them. Assuming we’re talking about a match play type scenario here. If you’re talking about stroke play, it doesn’t really matter, and you can always just tell the other guy in your group to go ahead of you.

In golf you can either apply pressure or withstand it. The man teeing of first has the chance to apply. The advantage lies in having the chance to hit a good shot to do that. The pressure falls on the next man.

The leader has earned the reward of knowing what he has to do to win the golf tournament. If he chooses he can look at a leaderboard and know where he stands until the very end.

I always wanted to hit first. In match play I think I’d a big advantage

This is actually a relatively new thing in golf. Was brought about with the advent of television coverage. For obvious reasons, you want your leaders playing when the TV coverage is on. Could you imagine if you put on CBS on a Sunday afternoon and heard “well folks, 54 hole leader, Jordan Speith came out this morning and posted a 65 to finish the tournament at -14 and sits on a 4 shot lead in the club house. Stay tuned for 3 hours of coverage to see if anyone can catch him. Young Peter Uhlien is the closest chaser still on the course. He’s only 7 shots back right now, and if he can match Speith’s 65, we’re heading for a playoff!”

Honors on the tee box I believe should be left up to who has the honors. If he wants to go first, go, if he wants to go last, go last. What gets me about the leaders going off last is they can get up early thirty and watch the play going on until they need to go warm up. Hell their caddies are probably walking the course before they tee off. Seems they have the advantage by going out last, unless the weather kicks up.

As an alpha, I want to hit first. I want to pipe a drive or put one on the green and make you sweat.

I often slow my routine in the hopes another player will jump ahead of me when I have honor, but I did not know this,

quote:

c. Playing Out of Turn
If a competitor plays out of turn, there is no penalty and the ball is played as it lies. If, however, the Committee determines that competitors have agreed to play out of turn to give one of them an advantage, they are disqualified.

Best answers, IMO.

Addition to the second one, if it's a tie and the first in last out is applied, it rewards the player who made the move and posted the score first to get out and see what he has to do the next day to win.

In match play, if you play out of turn, your opponent can request that you replay the shot.

But, being the beta you are, you end up having outpatient surgery and doing baseboards for 6-8 weeks.
