Played the tips.

What do I hit off 2?
What's the line on 6?
What's the play on 10?
What's the shot on 18?

-2 iron no wind, 3 wood into
-with driver, 150 stick with a cut
- 3 wood slight draw or slight cut
- fairway finder driver, layup with 4 iron, flip wedge

Just the way I play it

Nitro, cig flicks, and white cans are the answers to your questions.

Excellent questions. Greystone layout is by far the most terrible I’ve ever played.

2 is like a 5 iron, 4 is the biggest slice you can muster, 6 is hybrid and then 200 yds to hole/why they don’t cut that pathetic excuse for wetlands in front of green I don’t know, 10 is a 7 iron off the tee/seriously, 18 2nd shot is a crap shoot hope to get lucky. The Island is actually a much better layout, surprisingly

I'm not Eli, but the course fits my eye... putting always lets me down out there though.

If you're a decent driver the miss is left. I do what I call a punch driver. Choke down a bit and do a 3/4 of my swing. Normally leaves me with an 8 iron in. Consensus with the guys I play with is hybrid/fw to the right side near the bunker.

What's the line on 6?

Depending on your distance, I aim for the 150 stake. Whether 3w or driver.

quote:

What's the play on 10?

Something straight down the pipe. Smooth driver or 3w.

quote:

What's the shot on 18?

I split that hole into 3 shots. Depends on your distances, but I'll go iron/wood, iron, iron. I use to go driver, wood, and I'd mess to much with water/OB woods.

Whatever your 240 yd club is.

I go at the 150 yd white stake. Left of it is great; right is safe.

What's the play on 10?
Fairway finder; middle of the green. Right off the tee is bad; left is worse.

From the tips, just to the right of the women’s box with a 250 yd club. Then a 220 yd draw (for a righty). Then get the distance perfect on approach from 140.

Bermuda decline on some greens showed up in mid fall and an extra 15” of rain in November with 20 days below normal temps. They’re continually sending soil samples to LSU to make sure things stay “healthy” and turn around fine come spring but there’s nothing to do until the grass grows again. The fairways are fine other than just being extra soggy from the rain.

Best explanation I can give. Obviously, not the situation anyone wanted but the management is doing what it can. Which right now is just keeping them dressed where needed and placing the holes in the most healthy places.

Maintaining greens in Louisiana (south in general) isn't easy. Our winter doesnt truly start till later in the year and cold snaps reek havoc on grass.

I think a certain course got clowned for being COP for awhile and closed for a week, yet maintain some of the best greens in the state, weird.

When you have 1/10 of the membership and 1/100 of the play, I’m sure that makes the decision to close when wet easier.

I was just talking to the Super at a local track and asked him how the hell he keeps his greens pool table smooth and beautiful during these crazy weather patterns. He says and I quote "I know what I'm doing...it's my job". Take it fwiw...

It’s the first year since I’ve been a Greystone member this has happened. Same Super. And Daniel and Chris have been around long enough with enough skins in this area to be trusted imo. When the greens got hit with the disease, actions were taken and all but 2 turned around. Those two had the most shade and were given the most attention. 13 and 15. Every other hole is looking much better and will come back healthy when the grass grows again. They have work still to do on those par 3s though.

Is there any course right now that isn't a sloppy fricking dump?

I love to play when its cold. It has just been so damn wet, and they are calling for 2-4 inches of rain Friday/Saturday

I thought not cutting the greens low in August would keep them lush and full throughout the fall.
