Did a personal Ball test between Srixon, Snell and Bridgestone

Late yesterday I went to my home course, it was pretty empty because of the heat, so I had a chance to hit several shots on each hole with different clubs and balls.
I am 64, close to 6'4 with a big swing arc. I hit everything high and I estimate a good driver swing now is around 95
Balls tested : Srixon Z Star, Bridgetsone BXS and Snell MTB-X
My results in order and every ball was a yellow cover
Distance off or driver and 7 iron -
1. Snell MTB-X
2. Z Star
3. BXS (very surprising to me)
Accuracy -
1. Z Star
2. BXS
3. Snell MTB - X
Feel- (Tie for first)
1. Z Star and BXS
3. MTB_X
Wedge Spin -
1. BXS
2. Z Star
3. MTB-X
I will say that I have been a big fan of the BXS for 3 years now. But when they decide not to make the BXS in yellow this year, I had to find a new ball.
The MTB-X is long, but I have durability issues with my wedges. The BXS is still a great ball, but in reality the Z Star just fits me better all the way around.
Nothing scientific about this for sure. And those among you that swing harder will probably get different results.
But for me going forward the Z Star yellow is my new ball.

Not surprised about the lower distance on BXS. Softer ball and more spin. The TourB X is the one I use and it’s very long and straight. Don’t need or want any extra spin on the shorter clubs.

So you're 6'3.
And Z Star is a great f-ing ball. I'm loving them all around lately.
Great paying $10 less per dozen than Pro Vs as well.

Posted in another thread, but Z Star yellow is mainly my go to ball.
I had like 8 dozen boxes laying around the house
It really is an amazing ball. I love playing yellow too, best yellow ball I’ve played.
And they’re ALWAYS on sale for $27-$30 a dozen (why I had like 8 dozen at one point
)
Great ball choice, you won’t be disappointed

Interesting. I am currently trying to find a new ball as I had been playing the Chromesoft.
I tried the BXS for two rounds and I enjoyed it, but wasn't in love with it.
I played the Left Dash Pro V1x earlier this week and really enjoyed it and had a great round. Want to play a few more rounds with it, but I really liked it and didn't find it to be too hard as some say it is.
I am a high spin player and just got fitted into a sub zero so will be interesting to see the Left Dash off the low spin driver now that it is here.
Was probably going to try the Tour B X as well.

All of the ones I’ve tried new out of pro shops and golf stores do the same as the ones I find in the hazards, they all go back there eventually. I don’t see much difference between any of the major brands, maybe I’m just not that good
I play ProV’s, Bridgestones, Srixon’s, and TP5’s and I still shoot the same scores.

You sound like my ball hawking buddy, that dude can find more lost balls .
Last year he found a Dunlop Black dot which I think is 20 years old at least, he played it lol

If I ever decide to go back to a white ball the BX is my first choice.
I wonder why Bridgestone decide to stop making the BX and the BXS in yellow ?

If your swing speed is 95 mph, why are you playing the XS? Try the RX or RXS.

I shopped around and came back to the Bstone XS. I’d move to try the Zstsr bc I like the yellow ball

I bought a box of recycled balls to hit in the field behind my house...there were like 7 or 8 Titleist professionals in there

I can still gather a little more speed if needed but I now try to hit more fairways with a smoother swing while still being plenty long.
I have always had a strong smash factor which helps me compress the ball.
I tried the BRX and just didn't like it.

Why do you use a yellow ball? Does it help you follow it in fligh?.
I have issues with my eyes and it’s hard for me to track shots sometimes. Trying to keep my head down and tracking my shot can be tough.
I’m not asking for a friend. ;-)

I started playing the Yellow ball because my course has pecan trees that drop a lot of leaves in the winter and the yellow was easier to find.
At 64, My eyes are not quite as strong as they once were and it helps too.
The performance is the same.

Can you follow the ball in flight easier?

You can turn your head while still keeping it down. Watch a lot of the modern tour players at impact...they are looking well out in front of the ball. Allowing your head to rotate might help you track the ball better and could help with rotation through the shot.
Also, look into getting a good pair of sports-specific sunglasses.

I’ve had several issues. One was picking my head up too soon so when I start flying open too soon I tend to overemphasize keeping my head down.
Second I also wear contacts. I have one god distance and the other for reading. It makes it tough to see the ball out of the corner of my eye and it hurts my depth perception.
I was wondering if the yellow ball might help.
Sunglasses? I’ve thought about that. Glare is an issue too. Do they help a lot?
