Could a 9 hole par 3/pitch and putt course survive in BR?

Recently visited Houston and played East River 9. It’s a 9 hole links style par 3 course ranging from 80-150 yards with a driving range and pickleball facility. Also home to Riverhouse restaurant and patio bar. There’s also lights set up for night golf. I had a great time there and could easily see the appeal of getting a very quick 9 in and grabbing a drink.
I’ve also heard great reviews of Butler Pitch and Putt in Austin. A true pitch and putt with the longest hole about 100 yards.
I know the struggles of full golf courses, but the quick and casual setting makes me think it could work. Of course, a lot depends on the bar/restaurant. I think the unique draw of being able to get 9 in in 1.5 hours after work, even being able to play past sunset could survive.
Any thoughts/experiences?

My dream is to open one of these in St. George. Maybe I’ll hit the powerball one day

Let me know when you hit the power ball, I’ll let you know if I win

We had one at LSU Golf Course for years.
And it kicked arse.

I enjoyed that for what it was, but it was just the same 50 yard shot to a tiny green over and over.
I'd love to have a true par 3 course with varied distances for the holes and light it up for night play.

Would be awesome but BR needs someone willing to front the money for what would prob turn into a massive circus.
They had one on greenwell springs years ago

That’ll probably be the biggest hurdle. Not many people going to be willing to give a loan to a standalone golf course. Even if it’s a unique concept.

Unless the city decided to fund this then it probably wouldnt work. It would have plenty of golfers coming to it and would probably struggle with overuse honestly.
Shoutout to Alexandria for having Bringhurst. Something like that would for sure never work in a big city.

My design would be a pitch and putt along with a place like pop stroke with simulators as well
Nice bar with good bar food
Any ot ballers are free to steal my plan
I played the orange lake par 3 course in Orlando earlier this year at night with glow balls and it was fun as hell

The Hope boys built one on Greenwell Springs road back in 90’s I believe. Was really decent lit 9 hole facility and it failed. Top Golf makes this concept obsolete

I really disagree with that. Top Golf is golf for people who don’t want to play golf.
I think a pitch and putt would draw more pure golfers than top golf and a good portion of casual players

butler is amazing. total vibe and its the best place in austin. sometimes the pace of play can be slow but thats because theres 500 people out there having a great time, learning the game, and drinking beer. this concept will work everywhere.

This is the cover page for my business plan.

Shreveport used to have the short 18 hole course where the back nine was all par 3's and lighted for night golf. It's where I learned to play golf. Hated when it closed down.
Now we're getting Chasing Aces in Bossier (opens next year supposedly) which is similar to TopGolf but it will also have a 9 hole "smart course". A nine hole par 3 course that will be lighted. I think it'll have synthetic tee boxes which is smart because I remember the worst part of the old par three course was that the tee boxes played like sand traps some times because you couldn't get the grass to grow fast enough.

According to my ex brother-in-law, who is part owner, it will. It will also have synthetic greens, a pop stroke like putt-putt, a top golf like 2 story driving range, a restraunt and bar and a bar between the par 3 and putt-putt. Sounds like it will be a fun place but who knows, Shreveport/Bossier don't support anything worth a damn, probably go out of business in a few years.

Check out the 3s in Greenville, SC. This concept is amazing. Bar and grill. Tee times until 11 pm or maybe later. Lights on the course. Has a real green putt putt course and practice area for members. Awesome spot and would survive anywhere where the population supports it. Justin Timberlake recently purchased it and is investing into the property.

Butler is a money machine. Any time Friday-Sunday it’s a 2 hr wait and everyone is drinking in the meantime. I think it’s pretty Austin specific though especially because the location is so good and they can cater to bachelor parties and the like.
Was just in Vancouver BC and they have a similar setup in Stanley Park.
