All I know is that is a great smash factor.

The other guy said I had a bad smash factor? The internet is confusing

I mean 1.50 is perfect and you weren't off by much on those 3 shots... Not sure what that person is looking at .

Jesus, I just read this whole thread. I responded too early about loft 18. I will meet you wherever you want. I just realized you said BC range. If you aren’t carrying the range balls into the houses on the back of the range you should just stop this conversation.

The house is 310 yards from the range you damn money hill neck
We have had Looper try and hit it before. Tree saves the house regardless of how far you can smoke it

Do you watch the 8 am teeoffs on Thrusdays or just final group on Sunday?
I bet that may answer the OP. It is an average

“Average” over the entire season and entire field of players will include some outliers.
They have misses. It happens.
I sort of grade myself on 2 main things:
1. Did my golf ball advance toward the target within a dispersion that is ok relative to my ability?
2. Did I take a decent swing?

I watch a decent amount of every day
For the life of me I have never seen a single drive with trackman say a drive carried in the 270s, which there would be thousands of them to have the average at 285 to offset the Rory’s of the world
The 5 and 6 iron data seems way off too

Scottie is ranked 81st on tour for driving distance
Go watch his trackman videos on YouTube. His driver average carry sits right at 300. I feel like other clubs are getting pulled into the data

Lucky for you, Ken and I are good friends. I’ll bring him too. Arnaud is the guy you should be getting to do that though

Ken taught me how to carry it 275. I traded tennis lessons for golf lessons

TrackMan isn’t used on all PGA holes. It’s a few select holes they know driver is going to be hit all out to maximize distance.
The average carry is what it is for those guys, you’re typically going to see the better guys featured and they often are the longer hitters. Combine that with extremely short mowed fairways with a ton of rollout and you’re going to “feel” like they’re all driving it 300 plus every time.

It’s not a feel. I can go online and watch the 81st guy in driving distance easily average 300 carry with his drive. Not rollout, Carey

Sure, pick a single anecdotal scenario on a practice range without tournament pressure if it makes you feel good. The TrackMan data is what it is, actual tour averages on driving specific holes. There’s going to be a spectrum of distances, but over a dataset with 1000s of points it gives a better representation of the average than anything you’ll cherry pick.

So when people give you rational explanations for your OP, you just write it off with the implication that the tour is lying?

Go to any tournament you like and get the actual stats. If you click the information tab it’ll tell you that drives are generally measured on two holes going in opposite directions to oppose wind factors. It’s measured from tee to final resting location. The tour average is generally in the 296-300 range based on total distance.
Can they hit it farther, probably. Most players keep some distance in the tank to balance control and distance. Rarely do you see them tee it up high and go long drive mode on it.
