Haven't seen this discussed on the board and sorry if I missed it.

Bryson is competing in the 2021 long drive contest in Mesquite, NV. Day 2 starts today with Bryson teeing off with the 5:45 CT group. His longest yesterday was 412 yards with him finishing 2nd in his group of 16.

Pretty impressive outing for his first time and I wonder if he will be able to top 412 over the next few days.

Link below describes the event and has more info on live stream and scores.

There was a photo of him and Kyle Berkshire together on IG, and someone asked Bryson if he thought he could beat Kyle. His answer was a resounding "Nope!"

I think Berkshire's longest of the day was 455

It's apparently some type of Cobra LTD model they cooked up for him. Lots of people were asking about it

Kyle is the man. He helped Bryson speed train knowing he would eventually compete against him. Awesome guy with an ungodly swing.

I love watching his course vlogs on YouTube. He plays it "safe" a good bit with 350-370 yard 2 irons instead of really going at it.

He's a really good follow on IG and I'm pulling for him to chase his dream. He's a plus golfer who's been putting in a ton of work into his short game.

That being said, he's nowhere near the level of even the Korn Ferry Tour guys when it comes to the greens. Still rooting for him though

There was a GoodGood golf video of Kyle at Bryson's house learning what Bryson does for his workouts. Bryson had a shot simulator in his house. Bryson hit some shots and then let Kyle hit some shots. They weren't even close to comparable. Kyle hit an 8 iron 302 yards and Bryson was just amazed and taking video of it in awe.

Yeah I saw that video lol. I'll give it to Bryson, he's fully dedicated himself to this approach to the game.

In the comments on that video, Kyle said he honestly thought the spin rate numbers were a little inaccurate and that it was probably 275-280. Still absolutely insane though

I've watched a few of these things over the last couple of years. Some guys do not get one in the grid first round. I would think Bryson could take advantage of that more so than the rest.

I would think the extra length on the drivers could possibly take away some of Bryson's accuracy, plus you know he's swinging harder than he does in an event. Day 1, Kyle Berkshire was 17/30 on the grid. Of course that's the be expected with 155mph club head speed and 230mph ball speed

Couple points-you can have a bag full of drivers and change during your session. If you're second, and first guy misses all shots, all you have to do is pass some number(260 maybe) and you win. Bryson could pull out his PGA Tour swing and do that easily.

This event is being played with a round robin type format for the first few rounds. so you are competing against 3 or 4 people at the same time and hitting at the same time. can't really dial it back until the last swing at best.

According to the stats, he led the Tour with an average ball speed of just under 191mph. His personal best is 217mph according to him. So I believe he's swinging much more closer to that 215mph number in the long drive event.

A guy I played baseball with in college is competing. Saw he made it to the round of 32. Don’t know what happened after that
