Big setback today

I have played well enough to get my hcap down to 12.0 as of yesterday. Played at my home course today and started with a triple on 1 but finished 44 on front 9. I’m thinking ok a few more pars and maybe a birdie and I can put and 85-88 on the board. 55 strokes later and I’m questioning why I even play. Could not hit anything flush and when I did it went into sand or water or long or short.

Where’d you play? Somebody else somewhere shot 100 even and had their best round ever. This frustrating round will make it that much better when you show low 80’s again

Bayou DeSiard.
Blue tees.
Felt like 8000 yards today.

Desiard is brutally hard from blues or tips right now.

I brought it upon myself.
3 putts
Muffed chips
Topped drive
Water
Bunkers
Bladed wedges
Pull hooks
Big slices
But greens are getting fast and rough is getting deep.
All around bad day

Sounds like grip pressure and using your arms rather than lower body to initiate the swing.
Good news is, they’re easy fixes. Hold club like a stick of butter. Will let your release actually happen.
To get a good feeling for the lower half of body, coil on your right leg. Plant it firmly in the ground with a slight bend. Turn your shoulders back but feel like your leg is flexing. Feels like a lot of pressure on the bag leg and when you can’t turn any further, simply get the rear leg to release stored up pressure. Your arms will follow.

Sounds like you got off to a rough start and were thinking about the results and your final score all day vs each shot, one at a time. I get it, not easy, but the more you can control worrying about the past or the future, and just enjoy being out there and focusing on making a good decision on each shot (course mgmt not technique) the more relaxed you will be which has a trickle down effect to your concentration, pace and tempo.

First of all, that’s golf. Everyone has these types of days. Personally, as I improve and have solid to fantastic rounds I foolishly believe that those rounds instantly become my new normal. I then start thinking of what I need to improve upon to go lower from that point.
The reality is that I need to enjoy those great days and use them for confidence and analyze what I was doing well. Golf improvement is always a process and you have to accept the good with the bad.
I always go seek instructional help if I play or hit the ball poorly 3 consecutive rounds.
Nobody who plays this game is immune from frustration and bewilderment.

Shot 97 on a Saturday last summer from men’s tees and a casual round. Then 81 from tips in tournament 3 days later.
It happens.
It happens.

This too shall pass. Back in college I went into 16 at the LSU course 6 or 7 times needing to finish out bogey or better to break 80 for the first time and never did. And it’s not like that closing is all that hard. Sometimes it gets in your head.

How are you holding the club? Describe your grip

You are in ur head too much. Stop worrying about a final score and play hole by hole. Try playing without writing down a score until the end of the round. If u can’t remember each score on your holes then you aren’t paying attention to golf enough.
