That’s great news. I have played down there twice & enjoyed both rounds. Like you, I hope they have the conditions right. Good luck to them & I’m glad they are reopening.

In the 80s when the course was still new it was a terrific place. It’s a Pete Dye design and if it’s in good shape it has plenty of potential.

Good luck to them. I’m not in a rush to get down there though. Maybe in the fall?

My Dad lived on number 2 in the 80s. At 16 I was walking from 4 green to 5 Tee and the biggest freaking alligator was sunning on the tee box. This was back in the day when that part of the course was still in the swamp.

it's not a Pete Dye design. it was designed by Pete's son. I asked him this when we were building and growing in TPC Louisiana. I asked Pete what made him design a course in LaPlace and he very nicely told me me didn't design that piece of S&%&, that was his sons design. HE used a few more colorful words in that conversation.

I’ve heard that story too(secondhand). Said he was not happy about being associated with that course.

At that time, landmark land was being run by the mafia and they had a strong hold on a lot of developments. Somehow Pete Dye got involved with them and “designed” a bunch of their new courses.

Just finished playing BT this morning. Greens could have used a little more growing time but were not bad. Slow and hard right now. They need rain badly on the fairways. It’s light years better than before Ida.
