I’m on the fence about getting these

There’s no reason to dump my Srixon 565s. I just want to. I hate golf

P770's

These are legit. I just got mine. Had 2014 Pings. It’s like night and day. 5-10 yards further carry and much more consistent ball flight.

I have a set of Nike Ignites just chilling in a backup bag. Anything from the last 3-5 years or so is definitely an improvement over your Nikes.

I have a set of Titleist 718 AP2s I'll sell you if you're interested

if you had 13 year old blades and looking for new blades the difference wouldn’t be as noticeable.

THIS.
I was very surprised. I played Mizuno MP60s for years. I played well and they were great for me. Was getting the itch and thought new tech would take me to next level. Fitted for MP20s and YES, they are fantastic, but I'm not getting more yardage, and they are not stopping me from thins or fats.
It's a personal thing. YOU might benefit, depending on the type of upgrade and YOUR game.

played AP2 for a while. I liked them a lot. but came from a blade and missed the feel. went to P7MBs and they are so pure. need to get more swings in them. still figuring them out. need to finish out the set sent with a 4 and 5. been going back and forth on the MCs or p770s. leaning 770s.

The blended set might be the answer.
I have the MP20s for 6-P, but they felt I had better accuracy with MMCs for the 4 and 5.

Going in, I really thought I'd get fitted for JPXs, as I am older and might need something "extra."
Ended up hitting the MP20s better than the JPX irons.

Blended sets are the thing for a lot of fitters.
It makes sense. I like mine.

yeah for sure blending. I don’t feel like hitting bladed 4 and 5 iron. 6 is stretching it. leaning towards the extra forgiveness in the 770s for 4 and 5 irons. honestly considering getting a 5 then a driving iron 3 iron. too many options these days haha

I’ve always purchased pre-owned about 1-2 years old. Never new except for a putter, but I’ve only purchased about 3 of those.

I’ve bought everything off ebay over the years. got lucky on the P7MBs. Had the shaft I wanted and seemed like only a 2 clubs were even hit. Got them for a nice little discount.

I have about 20 plus rounds in with mine and I couldn't be happier. Very solid irons and they still look brand new.

And I am glad that I went back to the KBS Tour 105 shafts too.

With woods/drivers the new technology matters more. With irons, little has changed but I’d still buy a new a set each decade.

I just upgraded from some old Cobras to a used set of Pings. Huge difference in my game. I’ve had to RE adjust my yardage for each club and they are more forgiving

Still playing my copper Ping Eye 2's from the 80's. I've had a dozen sets since, but been playing these for the last 10 years. They are still the best clubs ever made.

I've had my Nike's for 13 years, but they're starting to get pretty banged up. What Im trying to figure out is, do newer clubs help your game - as in technology etc is much better than in 2008? Of course the commercials tell me yes, but Im not sure if I believe that.

Im not new to golf, and my handicaps is 12. - Should I invest in some name brand expensive clubs?

Hell yes they're worth it.

Up until two years ago I was playing with some Taylor Made knock offs I bought in 1997 in grad school. The whole bag was $500. I was a single digit handicap with those clubs and putter, but I stopped playing golf consistiently about 10-12 years ago. I got interested in playing consistiently again, so I purchased some high-end used clubs on the internet. No fitting, I just hit some drivers and irons and chose based on what I liked and what I hit well. It took me a couple of months at the range to dial in the inside-out swing path and short game again to put up a respectable score, but the new tech is definitely worth it. I'm not good enough to play with blades, so the tech for new clubs is especially beneficial for those who can't swing blades.
