Becoming fairly predictable at this point. He can’t seem to avoid the left miss off the tee on Sunday even if he knows left is deep trouble, left a chip at his feet today, doesn’t seem to make putts when it matters. Still has yet to win a big tournament as a pro or amateur despite many crowning him a future world #1.

Is he a closet head case or are these just growing pains?

He turned pro just a year ago. Finished 2nd in The Masters.
Golf ain’t easy.

I’ve never played tournament golf.

I imagine that it takes time to learn to win.

I’d wait a few years before burying him.

It’s really not far fetched to call him a future #1 when he’s #4 in the world right now

I’m not sure I put much stock in OWGR, certainly not with LIV. He’s 6 at best and maybe 7 with Dechambeau, Rahm, and Koepka.

To my point, he hooked it left into the water at 11 to sink his tournament. The only person I remember making that mistake all day. Scotty cruised to the win, aberg didn’t challenge him

To insinuate that someone one year into his pro career may be a closet head case after showings such as at The Masters and ranking in the top 10 is ridiculous in my opinion

There’s a really clear top 4 and then after that I think you can go a number of ways.

Scottie
Bryson
Xander
Rory

After that take your pick. I’d probably put Ludvig 5 or 6. He’s played better than Rahm and Brooks this year IMO.

He's been pro for about a year. He has a win on tour, Master's 2nd place finish (he shot 69 on Sunday, it wasn't like he just collapsed), and is a widely regarded as a top 10 player in the world no matter what ranking you want to use.

Scottie was the PGA tour rookie of the year in 19-20 and didn't win his first tour event until 2022. Everyone said the same thing about him in 2021 and now it looks like it was an absurd question, of course he was going to be successful. It's just hard to stack up a bunch of wins. Aberg will be fine and is going to have a long successful career. I like his chances of getting to world no. 1 at some point.

The guy's a kid. It's natural to get the wobbles trying to finish the deal. He'll figure it out eventually.

Yea, its gonna take some time for him to get comfortable winning at this stage. He will eventually do it, could be this weekend.

Do you think he's the 4th best golfer in the world?

I don't think he's mentally weak like the OP, but I think he has been anointed a little too quickly and I don't think he's the 4th best player in the world. He has been extremely steady and that's been good for his OWGR but I need to see a little more than just one tour win to call him a top 5 player, regardless of what I think his ceiling might be.

So he turned pro a year ago and is, at worst, 7th in the world. That doesn't really change his argument to be fair
