IMO y'all are both the classic "get off my lawn" annoying old men. He should've come up with some other solution and not bothered you and you should've been more receptive to letting him use it until you were ready to use it. Similar to letting someone work in on a machine between your sets at the gym.

But it sounds like you're both too stubborn to be reasonable.

This is the answer. You both come off as miserable c*cksuck*rs who make golf look bad to the casual player

Disagree. Bad analogy. I've encountered both and I always let people work in their sets while I worked out. Even on machines I worked on I reset it for the person working with me. As a tall person, I would adjust the seat and the weights to the calibration of the person I'm sharing the machine with. The golf tee is not as practical as a machine. When I'm working my driver, I pound balls (when ready) and then I'm done. That's when I was prepared to give the tee (and did) to the guy.

Btw, sometimes I simulate a golf round. Driver, iron, wedge, driver, iron, wedge.

So you got to the range first. You got the tee you wanted. The other guy had plenty of other options, but the board thinks you’re a dick for not giving the guy your tee?

This.

Exactly why so many people don't get involved with memberships at clubs or with golf in general.

What? This is exactly why you join a private club.

Exactly this. I just cannot imagine not helping out a fellow golfer anytime on the course/practice area. But, you go to golf courses and there are giant assholes everywhere.

The conversation should have ended after OP said he was using the tee.

What more should he have to say? He was there first, he is using it. Pretty simple. If the other guy really wants that specific tee he can wait. Why is that unreasonable?

It would frick up my practice session if I suddenly felt the need to hit driver and I have to ask the guy for the tee back when he is using it. Which I'm sure he would have given some smart arse remark about.

Oh no, that may be the difference between an 87 and an 85.

Both parties were old curmudgeons

Nah. I'm young and would have done the exact same thing as the OP.

I can't imagine getting mad at someone for not giving up their tee.

Since I know this is a problem at that particular driving range, I bring my own tee. Or I will talk to the workers at the range... They are the ones responsible for providing everyone with a tee, not some random guy hitting balls.

The guy in your story was your age according to you. So if you knock millennials, then you have to knock boomers as well (I am assuming your age here)

Sounds like 2 grumpy old dicks huffin and puffin at each other.

If you're that particular about tees, join a club with a real range.

There are plenty of youngsters itt that agreed with the guy. I should alter my practice routine for a guy that did nothing to explore other options. Screw you Kingbarkus, and give me the tee for MY game, MY range work, MY MY MY...
