It was crazy. The wind has basically blown the top layer of sand out of the bunker. The bunker is basically dirt/mud. The caddie goes into the bunker, bends down, feels it around to test the lie. Obviously not legal, the penalty is loss of hole...it was hole 18, match over

Caddie rubbed his hands through the sand to determine depth playability.
Really egregious that he then had the gall to deny it. Everyone saw him and he’s on camera clear as day running his hands through it. He then even picks it up and rubs it in his fingers for a closer look.

I wonder if that was a caddie from Bandon or the players own caddie. I know some of the players had local caddies.

It was so casual that I didn’t know he was breaking the rules.
I THINK I know what he was doing(trying to figure out how deep the sand is until it gets hard).
But it was SO blatant.

The kid seemed really pissed (justifiably) at the caddie.
His caddie cost him a chance at winning.
I’m really surprised at the behavior of the caddie. He was vehemently denying any wrongdoing yet he is clear as day on camera cheating.
From the audio he was denying everything outright and sounded like he was saying something about a rock. Really crappy of him to try and make the other caddie have to be the bad guy. The other caddie was the one raising a fuss about it loudly “I SAW YOU”
The player had nothing to do with it so its a bummer for him.

I saw this transpire live, one of the craziest things Ive seen while watching golf.
