Picked up some Bridgestone e12 today, will be trying those out Friday morning.

It was down to the Wilson Staff 50 elite or those for the test. Bridgestone just felt a little better

lower spin , lower cost options.

You buy clubs like most of us buy balls or gloves. As much as you spend, do you really care about cost of a ball? I am really surprised you play anything other than left dash Pro V1x

Played prov1 today.

It spins more than the tm tour response.

I need to stripe one to gauge putting.

I did not putt great today, but I’m used to the stripe on the tour response.

The spin is more - especially with fairway woods.

I'm not if one thing has to do with another in your statement. Since this test is not all about me, but hopefully a resource for everyone.

We are doing a 2024 ball test and sharing our thoughts about each ball.

Just because a ball cost more doesn't mean it's the best for your individual game.

I played the Left Dash, it's long but not the right ball for me or my taste. I hate the ProV1, but I like the ProV1x.

I just saw a Tweet that Fred Couples plays a soft feeling ball and has now put 6 woods in his bag now.

I would play a Pinnacle Gold 18pk if it was the best ball for me.

Exactly.

The Taylor Made ink isn’t as good a ball tee to green for me. Once on the green though? If I could just putt with one ball that’s the one I’d be using right now.

This whole thread is about identifying the characteristics of the different balls to help people find what’s best for them. I can absolutely say it’s helping me figure that out instead of just blindly buying a ProV1.

I thought it was a fantastic idea Bopper had to start this thread, and nothing I’ve seen has made me change that opinion.

I went back to striped tour response today.

I putted much better.

The alignment stripe helps me. I know some people prefer nothing on their golf ball, but I sometimes perceive the line of play to the left when I stand over the ball.

My understanding is you can custom order most balls with some sort of alignment aid.

For now, I’m going to draw lines with a stencil and sharpie on any ball I use without an alignment aid.

I found some 2023 TP5x on sale so I decided to give them a shot.

For a premium tour ball I was shocked at how much it spins. Driver and irons both felt like I lost a good chunk of distance.. To say I was not impressed is an understatement. I’m assuming their tour players are gaming a lower spin version or the 2024 ball had some upgrades.

Left dash continues to be the gold standard as far as I’m concerned.

For some random scramble you should game different golf balls for different shots. That would be entertaining.

This was the case for me as well. I tried them out and was sorely disappointed. I'm not sure what they did, or why, but the version before (maybe it was the 2020 or 2021 version) was great. Then TM just decided to obliterate any good progress they had. For me, that ball was a club or club and a half shorter for me off the tee. Really disappointing.

Bridgestone e12

The dimples on this look a bit different, so I wasn’t sure how this would respond.

Ball feels great off the club, whether irons, woods or putter the ball just felt right. The Judge greens are ridiculously fast today, but my distance control was really good on putts as the ball came off the putter soft and rolled true.

Driver distance was comparable to anything I hit, didn’t miss very many fairways with it either. Wasn’t a low or high spin off the driver, but was very consistent.

Iron control was good, PW stopped dead and even backed up a bit once.

Where it excelled was around the green. Maybe just a good day, but chipped in twice in the first 4 holes. Feel transmitted up through the hands that resulted in great distance control.

Hacked one out of the grunge green side and made one of the best pars I’ve made.

Honestly not sure I’m going to be reviewing any more if this keeps up.

Played The Judge with one ball today, which is a first.

E12

Srixon q-star tour
Taylor Made Ink
Srixon q-star

E12 is the big winner for me, absent this thread a ball I probably wouldn’t have tried.

I have always liked the TP5 balls feel but Like you I felt like I lost distance with them .

I read that a lot of TM staff still play the 2019 version.

Great review.

The E12 has a compression rating of 61

I'm trying the QStar Tour and the Maxfli Tour on Thursday.

E12 again today. Played legislator, again with just one ball.

On 17, admittedly downwind i measured one on the tracker at 277 yards. Longest drive I’ve hit in a long time. Put it in the green side bunker in two, which was long enough to get there playing 525 today, which is unheard of for me.

Really getting to like this one.

The 2023 Taylor Made is an awful ball. Averaged 15 yards less off the tee than the Prov1 with the robots hitting them. Rory was using the 2019 TP ball until the 2024. Response around the green was fine and it was durable but when you're losing that much distance for a premium price, it's a bad golf ball.

Awesome.

How is my arch nemesis the Senator Course doing ?

I'm delaying my testing by a week.

The 115 excessive heat index is too much.

They’re working on getting it ready for the tournament in a couple weeks.

They mowed the grunge yesterday, looks like it’s down to maybe 8 inches high or so. They need to use a hay rake on it to clean up the cuttings, pretty thick.

They’re still having rounds on it, if I’d known they mowed it I’d have played it today and spent a little time ball hunting since you can actually find one I think now.

Marshalls are playing The Judge tomorrow, so I’ve got to get ready to take their money.

68 years old, 3.5 index at The Island in Plaquemine. Driver Club Head Speed 88, between 235 - 245 off the tee. Was playing the Maxfl Tour S, really liked the ball, however I felt it was slightly soft for my liking. Switched to the new Callaway Chrome Tour, compression was much better, more distance, spin, with a higher trajectory compared to the Maxfli. Shot a 68 with the Callaway Ball. Bought a new combo set of PXG 0311P / 0317T irons, they sent me a dozen of their PXG golf balls, tried them my last couple of rounds. Slightly firmer than the Chrome Tours, more green side spin, but I feel they are a little shorter, distance wise. Also they seem a little clicky to me at impact. Very good ball, but I will be playing the new Callaway Tour in the foreseeable future.

The PXG ball is good quality, but it is a high spin ball.

I look for them next year to come up with a LS version.

Played with red Bridgestone E12 contact Monday. Hit more fairways then ever, but I also made a setup change with my driver. Our rough is deep so I wanted the red to be able to find them easier. I really like the balls and at 10.99 per dozen from Golfballs.com for practice versions, which to my understanding are normal balls with maybe a cosmetic issue, it's a no brainer for a poor man like me. I bought 5 more dozen since they have free shipping going.

I came from playing Pro V1x I was buying used for 1.00 from a local guy who lives on a course and walks it daily picking up balls. Maybe a few yards shorter, but much straighter. Also my short game was off so hard to tell about greenside spin, but I'd say not as much as the Pro V1x but fine for a hacker like me.
