I don’t really get it. Maybe if he was too bulky it could hinder his flexibility but not from being too ripped lol. Also he really isn’t that ripped lol. Lifting weights and strength training is perfectly fine as long as you do it right and for a sport like golf flexibility is very important so you also have to do excercises that promote flexibility which I’m sure he does. Sounds more like an old dinosaur who doesn’t understand exercise. Would he rather Rory be built like John Daly but just make sure he hits his stretches?

It was said repeatedly about David Duval. I'll be contrarian: Maybe not with Rory, but I think that there's something to it.

Because guys in the gym all the time like Tiger, DJ, Kopeka, and Rory are all really bad players...
You can't only hit the gym, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

It's Johnny's favorite thing to say about Rory.
Is there a more unlikeable golf personality than Johnny miller?

I hear you but that is not the point. Sometimes a wholesale physical change disrupts timing, mechanics, etc. Jordan talked about it relative to his game. Does that mean that a guy with Lebron's body cannot work out and get all jacked up? Of course not.
By the way, Nicklaus, B Chamblee, and Hank Haney all have mentioned that part of Tiger's regression was too much time in the gym.

I think for Tiger it was a combination of injuries and getting too mechanical in his swing. When he’s been healthy he’s won, whether it was with Butch, Hank, or Sean. Whether he was big and bulky and small and wiry
It’s really pretty Incredible he’s gone to world #1 with 4!!! Different swings

Rory was a top 3 player in the world and racking up majors at a quick pace before he started bulking up. He has dropped out of the top 10 in the world rankings and hasn't competed for a major in the last couple of years.

Johnny speaks like the pretentious Mormon prick that he is. He event sounds miserable to be there.

I think a lot of that is due to injuries, but I would guess part of that might have to do with working out so much. Don't know for sure.
Also, anyone else excited for the Ben An, Grayson Murray pairing today?

....he got 200 million from Nike and fell in love with some chick. I like Rory and he’s extremely talented but has to be one of the softest, most weak minded sports superstars ever.

Of those guys, Haney was the one who was closest to the situation, and I think he misunderstood what Tiger was doing physically to attribute it to "too much time in the gym". Henrik Stenson is a work out warrior as well, and he's a big, strong, fit dude like Tiger is - he just wasn't doing some of the things that Tiger was.
It wasn't Tiger's standard lifting, flexibility, and cardio routine that was making him break down. It was his SEAL-style work outs - going on runs with a weighted vest, HALO jumping, etc. - that was doing much more damage than a strong golf-oriented fitness routine. It's a sure fire way to make your body break down earlier than it otherwise would, and it does nothing for bulking up (in fact, it makes you lose weight and mass if anything). It just does unbelievable damage to your back, hips, and lower body joints.

It's also not like Rory was hitting the ball that much worse. He was still top 10 last year in strokes gained tee to green. His putting just sucked. That's not a workout issue.

Tiger being aggressive so far, I like it.

Stenson is so absurdly good when he's hot

Tiger with the F-bomb under his breath

Yeah Stenson is amazing when he has the putter going

Damn shame that didn’t go in
