I mean the same could be said about you being a Microsoft shill. You are happy that they are increasing prices. That’s hilarious.
I said it was a good decision. I didn't say I was happy about it. I wish the hardware supply issue didn't exist, but it does. That isn't an XBOX problem and is completely out of their hands. You're continuing to embarrass yourself.

I have no loyalty to either.
Yeah, that's why you jumped into this thread that has nothing to do with console prices to talk about console prices and have been falling all over yourself to defend Sony's anti-consumer physical disc announcements. You obviously aren't a Sony shill. Can't imagine how anyone could think otherwise.

ETA: I realize this board is full of Sony shills who are desperate for XBOX to be a terrible company, but could y'all at least put a little thought into it? You're embarrassing yourselves.
I bought both a PS5 and Series X this generation and have PS+ and Game Pass Ultimate. At first, I'd play a game on whichever console had better performance (I also appreciated XBOX having more extensive backwards capatibility). But ever since I got a Pro, I really have no need to ever use my Series X (although I did use Game Pass to play Mixtape
Both companies are making shitty decisions, but for you to call anyone a shill is rich. The vast majority of your posts on the Gaming Board are praising XBOX and Asha and talking shite about Sony.

I’m pretty certain this lady immediately dropped the monthly game pass price to $22 a month right after they tried to increase it to $30 a month. She specifically stated that $30 a month is way too much.
Y’all just making shite up lol

It’s funny because I didn’t even bring up the PS5 or Sony.

I am not an XBOX shill, but I do hate Sony. They are a terrible, anti-consumer company. XBOX and Nintendo are much better companies imo. Nintendo has the best exclusive games and XBOX has the best gaming service in Game Pass. As a result, I have been buying their consoles for the past 2-3 console generations. Have not had a Sony console since the PS2. I can't figure out why people want them.
If XBOX makes the same anti-consumer announcement Sony did, and decides physical discs won't be made for the Helix, I won't be buying one. Has nothing to do with Sony other than they already made such an announcement. On the other hand, many on this board are EXTREME Sony shills, to the point that they actually defended Sony's Jim Ryan colluding with the American government in an attempt to halt XBOX's purchase of ABK, even though there was never an anti-competition argument against that merger, and are now defending Sony's decision to stop releasing physical discs. It's pathetic to witness.
ETA: That said, this announcement today from the new XBOX CEO is very encouraging. Great decisions being made over there and it's awesome that they figured out a way to do this without shutting down any studios. Hopefully they don't ruin everything by following Sony's lead on physical media.

As someone who has never purchased an Xbox product ever, watching them diminish is sad and bad for gamers and the gaming eco-system in general.
Just like Sony kept Xbox in check back in the day a healthy Xbox would keep Sony in check today.
Capitalism only works when there is legitimate competition. The more legit competitors in the market the better because companies have to actively fight each other to appeal to customers.
All those studios they spun off as "independent" will likely be dead in short order. They were cut lose because they lose huge amounts of money. They take way too long to make games and those games don't sell. They were living off MS's teet for years.
Studio closures are only a tragedy when corporate comes in, mandates a bunch of shite, and then ruins them in the process, which has definitely happened here and there.
Seems like the exact opposite happened with Microsoft. They bought these studios and gave them unlimited money and freedom and the studios mostly just proceeded to waste many years and hundreds of millions of dollars releasing garbage that didn't sell.

Nope, I don't love XBOX. XBOX just has a much better product than Sony currently, and I hate Sony. I feel the same way about Nintendo since the Switch came out, but no one calls me a Nintendo shill because Sony didn't try to get a Nintendo merger shut down inexplicably and you losers didn't cry all over your keyboard when every prediction I made about that case became reality.
To you Sony shills, anything less than full throated support for Sony is "shilling for XBOX," because y'all aren't capable of thinking deeper than that.

We know that great technology gets better when it gets simpler, not bigger. Today, in some parts of the company, work passes through as many as 14 layers of management. Our platform teams are 40% larger than they were at the start of this generation, even as our player base and playtime have declined. That complexity has slowed decisions, blurred accountability, and made it harder to deliver for players. As we reset XBOX, we will simplify.
Anyway. 14 layers of management is insane. No wonder some of these games feel like they're in development forever. Just reducing that to 3 or 5 layers should create a ton of efficiency.

What you just highlighted has more to do with the current state of copyright claims than anything to do with Nintendo. The current state of legal litigation regarding copyright infringement requires companies to file suit or pursue remedies anytime they become aware of a potential copyright infringement. If they don't diligently and aggressively do this, it can be used against them when a legitimate copyright violation occurs. This is one of those situations where lawyers have screwed things up for everyone. If you don't like it, your problem is with the legal system, not Nintendo.
I'm sure you won't believe that, so I'd recommend you look it up before responding.
ETA: Is this about to turn into a thread where I clearly state what the state of copyright law is, am right the entire time, and then get branded a Nintendo shill? Because that would be hilarious irony.

Always amazed to see Xbox warriors after 10 years of Microsoft bending them over.

What a strange response to my comment that was entirely about Nintendo.
That said, Microsoft has had the best product on the gaming market for the last 10 years. To date, I have had Game Pass for the entirety of of its existence, while paying for only 2 years total. Game Pass + Microsoft/Bing Rewards is just about the most awesome thing a gamer could ever have asked for.
You guys slept on it, so I get why you'd be lashing out about missing out on it. Game Pass created an amazing era of gaming and completely passed you by because you mistakenly thought 1-2 decent exclusive games on Playstation was somehow a better deal.

Sounds like id software got heavily gutted during this round of layoffs.
Probably lose id tech and their output moving forward will be significantly different. Classic case of MS taking a healthy studio with solid titles pre acquisition and cratering it.
I can’t see how anyone could cheerlead for Xbox or Sony right now. Abysmal situation for both.

I've had Gamepass since Day 1. It's just like Netflix - 99% of the games on it are shite

If the best thing your platform offers is a subscription model, your platform sucks. Full stop.

There are definitely a lot of filler games on it. Some are bangers like Bellatro or Slay the Spire (which just left Game Pass on July 1 but was on it from the beginning of the service).

There's no reality in which I, or any reasonable person, would pay full price for it rather than just buying the actual good games and owning them.
I would, 100%. I haven't had to due to the trick you mentioned and Microsoft/Bing Rewards, but it has definitely provided $20 a month worth of value to me. It has awesome AAA games on it all the time, and has for nearly the entirety of its existence. It is easily the best product in gaming currently.
ETA: Currently playing Visions of Mana, which hit Game Pass on day of release and I've had in my backlog. Never played any games in this series before and enjoying it so far. Definitely getting a physical copy of this one.

Is the gamepass model profitable for the studios that have to include their high development cost products at launch date? Is it sustainable to provide all these products on a subscription based service?
COD being pulled off gamepass seems to indicate no.
The layoffs and closures seem to indicate no.
