I sympathize with that pic. My carport is stacked like a UPS warehouse with collectors editions.

It makes me irrationally angry every time there’s a scratch off code in one of those boxes. From the rational side, it’s silly to want a disc you’re required to insert every time you want to play a game…that can be rendered useless at the developer’s whim.

Its not hard to justified if you do the math. Do you as a costumer plan on spending more than 396 dollars a year on XBOX/Microsoft games? If so, then yes subscribe, if not, then don't Its that easy.

Not an xbox guy but i probably spend close to that on games. But it's all credits from my sony card. If it wasn't free, i dunno if i would.

I'm so glad Microsoft bought all those third party studios. They certainly seem like a level-headed, stable company that really values its consumers.

I had a bunch of cheap time stacked that expires in Jan, looking like I’ll drop to the second tier for $15, just to give me enough random stuff to play.

I did see where you can buy a bunch of time GameStop or Best Buy places like that in cards for the old price and stack that. For years I held off getting game pass and just rolled with my Xbox live and loved it but then a couple years ago there was something out on it and some friends did game pass so I jumped on that and it’s been fun. I’ve definitely played some games I never would have thought about playing before but man it is getting a little steep not surprising though they do need to justify throwing Call of Duty® on there. I can imagine that cannibalize sales.

Unsustainable business model is unsustainable.

At least they can rely on all those hardware sales.

Yeah I mean this pretty much seals it that Gamepass is an unsustainable failure.

How do you make the price hike more palatable? Include bigger, better games. How do you pay for that? Raise the price

I wouldn't be necessarily say that. Plenty of people are pissed at Nintendo. I have always said that Nintendo is basically EA if EA still made good games.

The difference is that Nintendo makes unique experiences that you can't get anywhere else.

When the old guard leaves, it will be interesting to see what happens with Nintendo. I suspect they will enshitify worse than they already have.

Additionally, the Microsoft situation is just different. They spent billions of dollars (because they can) to buy up all these studios to make games for the money pit that is Gamepass, attempting to convince everyone that it is the future of gaming, but the more games they put on the service, the less money they make.

Nintendo still has a brand identity. They have definitely gotten greedier with their switch 2 pricing decisions but they still deliver unique experiences, albeit not as often.

Microsoft hasn’t done much to justify the Xbox division’s existence since they shite the bed back in 2013 with the xbone launch. Their only business strategy since they got blown the frick out by Sony that generation is to buy a bunch of studios that they don't do anything of note with. And all that has done is made their gamepass model completely untenable.

I say that as someone who stuck with MS due to brand loyalty due to good experiences during the 360 era. I woke up. Only a fool would continue to throw money at Xbox at this point.

Although in fairness, the 360 era did come back. In the worst possible way. $360.
