I was wondering if anyone has dealt with a problem similar to the one I'm having now, if this is more appropriate on the tech board, mods please move it.

I have a 6 month old xbox one x, plugged directly into ethernet (AT&T Fiber 1gb). When I run the network speed and statistics test, I'm getting about 900 MBps.

However, when i start downloading an update for a game, call of duty here, it's downloading at about 500 KBps. Essentially, my game is downloading at 1/2000 of the speed it's telling me I should be getting.

If anyone has experience with this and has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

If there are other things running on the XBox it limits your download speed. Could be it.

Hard reset the Xbox. I was having a stoppage issue and that fixed it. Or seems to have.

1/2000th of the speed seems extremely slow. About a week ago I downloaded something from Game Pass and my download speeds were around like 25% of my download speed on any other device.

Seems like a lot of people are experiencing issues: LINK

There can be a multitude of reasons for this. If you are doing the update the same time a ton of people are, there will be some pretty massive slowdowns from Microsoft's end. There are generally just some issues with speed on Microsoft's end as well.

Also, if you are playing a game or running anything else on the xbox, it hammers your download speeds for updates or anything.

Otherwise, hard reset and see what happens.

Yeah, it doesn’t even seem possible. My Xbox is telling me my current download speed is 845 mbps, but when I look at the update, it’s getting 125 kbps. I’ve hard reset the Xbox, closed every app, tried wireless (while changing the DNS server and resetting the MAC address), and still nothing seems to be working.

Someone on that reddit link suggested that for whatever reason, if you hover over your “bandwidth usage” section of the Xbox, it speeds up the download. It works but it just brings me to about 1.5 mbps

It literally makes no sense.

ETA: trying an additional full shutdown of the Xbox to see if that helps. I can see why the speed would be slower than what the test is telling me, but there’s no reason it should be THAT slow. Thank you guys for the suggestions

Update: was trying to avoid cancelling the update because it would delete the game and cod is like 200gb. Just went for it and now it’s speeding thru (400mbps). Seems it was an issue with cod servers

I've never had good speeds downloading stuff on my xbox. Doesn't matter if it's hard wired in to a gig connection or not. Microsoft servers blow arse.

Mine is hit or miss as well, the most I usually get is 250 Mbps on 1 gig fiber.

Had this issue. I did everything, no fix. Seemed to resolve itself. I can only assume it was on the ISP/XBOX side.

Mine seemed to download the first 25 gb with no problem in about 30 minutes. After that, it downloaded 1 gb in 2 hours with no change in download speed when looking at the detailed network statistics on the xbox (still around 900mbps).

After cancelling the download, it downloaded 120gb in an hour made no sense.

I'll try to explain this in an easy way..We have 1Gb down, but MSoft, other servers might have 25 dedicated up, etc..Now, have 1Million people getting an update from those servers and its a bottleneck..
