the graphics will be awesome.
Has there been any indication as to what will set the PS4 and 720 apart? Not to derail the thread...just curious because I will more than likely buy whichever comes out first.

It all depends on time of release.
If you see a large gap in time, then you will also see a large gap in specs. Just like this gen and the 1 year head start by MS.
It worked out for them in overall sales, but the system ran out of graphical power quite a while before the next console was even scheduled to be released. They also got a year head start on XBL which IMo is the reason it is as polished as it is.
But that year head start also came with a massive RROD problem.
So to answer your question...there is basically no indication at this point what will set them apart.

Way to pay attention to the thread.

We know PC fanboys....you all will still pass up consoles in GFX...yadda, yadda, yadda....
I use to be strictly PC gaming, I got a G1 Xbox and started playing that strictly online, when the 360 came out I pretty much stopped playing PC Games. I haven't had a desktop PC is about 4 years and I didn't miss it. However I just got finished building a computer with the intentions of it being a media streamer/gaming pc.

A good gaming PC + Steam is a beautiful combination.

I won't be buying any new consoles most likely. Especially with all the shitty news coming out about them.

I might just get to the point where if it's reasonable to keep my PC updated, price wise, I'll at least not be in a rush to get the new ones. Can't say I'll never buy one.

I have been out of that genre for quite some time. Does steam do anything more than just allow you to play online?

I didn't say I'll never buy one. Just that I likely won't. No point really. I have plenty of fun on my 360. I'm not quite as hardcore as most though.

360 will be 99% dead 12-18 months after the new system drops. Faster than that obviously if you want to play any of the new multi player games.

It's a platform that you can launch your games from and buy from as well. Just open it up, go to Library, and they are all right there ready to be double-clicked.
Steam is always offering great deals on games also. 50% off sales are pretty common place. It's nice to not have to worry about a hard copy of a game. Just really convenient.

I have a feeling the PS3 will have a longer life after the PS4 is released... after all, it's still a bluray player and netflix box.

and netflix box.
I am willing to bet that both Sony and MS cut off those services sooner rather than later in order to drive more people to purchase the newer systems.

They would probably have to go through pretty heavy legal shite with Netflix for that to happen.
Looks like I'll finally be forced to buy a Sony system. DRM killed PC gaming for me, and now it looks like MS is going to bring it to consoles. That combined with the RROD fiasco I had in this past gen and I'm absolutely through with MS.

Maybe but I doubt most of those contracts are very long term anyway and if Netflix wants to be on the next gen systems they wouldn't try and push Sony or MS around. They are hurting right now anyway and it would be a dumb move to dig themselves further into a hole.

Wonder how big Nintendo's market share goes next round.
