re: Xbox 360: Why I won't buy Microsoft ever again

but the hardware failure rates are pretty much nonexistent on the newer versions of the console.
Hasn't done me much good.
Look at the time I purchased my replacement 360 there wasn't a single title I was aware of that required an install. Apparently I should have seen the future and bought a several hundred dollar console all over again because it 'won't fail this time'.

100 for some extra memory in the HD? You serious?
Of course that was a poor purchase idea when presented. After the fact install-only games became more ordinary. At the time I couldn't have known Bf was install required.

Why would they offer a console that isn't able to operate on the games they like to advertise for the console.Bizarre decision
The 4 GB operates plenty of games. Not everyone plays BF4 or buys DLC. A simple system that can launch a physical copy of the game is all they need. So they gave those people a more cost effective option, thus expanding their consumer base. How is that bizarre?

It's bizarre because triple A titles such as gta5 or bf4 need installs, which I can't do on my 360.
So I have to do research ahead of time, and some titles I can't really play without buying another peripheral.
This is of course to say nothing of holding 360 capabilities behind a paywall such as Netflix and internet explorer.

This is like buying a 1500 sq foot house and then bitching when you've had 8 kids and it's too small

I just don't understand how anyone who been gaming for any amount of time doesn't realize that hard drive space is going to be an issue especially something as small as 4 GB.

At the time I wasn't aware of a SINGLE game that required install.

I don't play halo, and wasn't aware that it required installs.

He bought a console and expected it to play every game made for that platform, I don't think that's asking to much.
I only had the first eliet, but can you not add in a flash drive or swap a hard drive in the slim?

I think I can, I may try FAT32 or NTFS and use that as a HD. I shouldn't have to, but whatever.

I mean if that works at least you don't have to go out and buy a new one. Flash memory is cheap as shite.

So I had a launch style 360 that made it a few years before red ringing. I didn't use it much, maybe an hour or two a week so it dying was a huge surprise.
Legit complaint.

Fast forward a few years and now I can't install Battlefield on my xbox because I don't really have a hard drive. So...yeah.
I have no pity. You were cheap as hell, bought an inferior console with barely any memory, and now you bitch?
For the record, I bought an elite in the first 6 months they were out, it got RRoD, Microsoft fixed it for me, and it still works. I've had it for around 7 years.

You say cheap, I say smart with his money. If you buy a system you should be able to play any game that comes out for it. It's never a smart idea for a company to split the user base.

If I bought a PC 7+ years ago, there's no way it could run the games of today.
He didn't plan for the future, pure and simple.

I'm done. I'm not buying another MS console ever again

Turns out I only got an xbox 180. I can't play install require games.

You are assuming that people know and understand this. Microsoft made a weird decision at launch and continued it through out the life cycle of the 360.
There is a large portion of the country that don't under the difference between 4MB and 4TB.

Terrible decision by MS. I'm done.
this thread is gold. pure gold.
anyone under the age of 60 should understand the difference between 4MB and 4TB, especially anyone purchasing electronics. Simple homework.
And if you're going to go the cheap route, at least do your homework to understand that 4GB HD is very small compared to the normal 360's.
But to blame Microsoft for this idiocy.....
Terrible decision by Microsoft? .... pretty fricking brilliant if you ask me.

If he were smart with his money, he would have bought the cheap arcade version of the xbox (as he did), then bought a 250gb hard drive from gamestop for 69.99ish.
Hell, I found two people on CL selling 250gb hard drives for $20.00

Yeah except that's has nothing to do with home consoles. A 360 you bought day one plays the games the same as one you could buy today.
Plus I already said to swap out the hard drive (which can be found for cheap) or put in a flash drive (cheap, just don't know if it works on 360) to increase his storage. I was just saying it's never a smart idea to fraction your user base on home consoles, you buy one thinking it will play the same games six years later.
