There are a few items that last a long, long time (HoJ, felstriker, gladiator chain, etc.) I just couldn’t remember one from a lvl 40 dungeon. I’d forgotten about Warden Staff though, maybe that is what he meant.

In the current patch, your BiS gear comes from WORLD QUESTS. Not raiding, not M+, fricking world quests dude. There's zero incentive to push harder content because the reward is nothing because casuals/non raiders/lazy players bitched about not being able to be as strong as the people that put 10x more time into the game than them. It's just bad.

(edit: May be my longest post ever..)

I've only started playing again in the last couple of weeks, so I may be completely full of crap and ignorant in my thinking... I have been playing fast trying to level. When I started back playing, I still had my quests in Northrend. So, starting back up after missing like 5 expansions really left me feeling out of sorts. I actually had to look up the order of the expansions to know what to do next. It didn't even take one zone in each expansion to level to the next one. I totally didn't get to experience those expansions (my fault of course), but I felt like I was just on a leveling conveyor and not playing the game.

I've watched several videos on the story of the expansions trying to get a feel for them.

I will start by saying the game is beautiful. WoW has it's own style and some of the areas in the game are just incredible. Noticed lots of changes to magic effects too. Blizz has done a nice job keeping their visual style but improving on it continuously.
My response:
I've noticed this crap as well. Like I said earlier in the thread, I started back up after a 10 year break back during our Ulduar raids (WotLK).

I'm 116 now on my old main NE warrior. Still trying to get to max level. Been doing quests and dungeons. Been real fun. Start up some world quests, que to dungeon... I run the dungeons and when I get boss drops, they're not as good as my world quest gear.

That's nuts. I like questing, but I love running dungeons and raids. That's the only reason I wanted to play again... Get to max, get gears, and start trying out high end raids.

I still don't quite understand what's going on with the game these days. I missed so many expansions, updates, major changes... I just realized last night that they removed the Dalaran auction house... lol

Seems like the game has changed too much from Lich King.

So many things I don't like about the game...

Transmog is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Can't believe that made it past the "new ideas" conference room when the retard brought it up...

I was main tank in my guild back in the day.. walking around with Last Laugh from Heroic Naxx, the Boreal Guard from Ulduar, and Dreadnaught gear meant something.. you could be next to somebody and see their actual gear and know what kind of player they were.

Now?? everything looks the same... someone's appearance means nothing.

Player zoning or whatever it's called. That has killed the sense of server community.

Fast leveling... Not a ridiculous thing to me since I'm in the process of leveling my main to 120.. I have a few other old 80s that I'd still like to play as well. I had a 60 hunter on another acct, but I created a new identical hunter character and powerboosted her to 100. Didn't want to lose my progress with her and didn't want to pay for the transfer. Plus instead of 60, she's sitting at 100 now.

I don't mind the new talent trees. As people have said before, there's usually only one best talent tree for each spec anyway.. I know Blizzard has tried fixing that, but not sure they accomplished it.

There's other small things as well...

I've run tons of instances.. one thing I noticed is that NOBODY SAYS A WORD. I may have run about 25 instances. I think we had maybe 2 chatty groups. I'm guessing most of these people are leveling alts and don't have time or care to talk.. so I just go with it.

Gear rating issues as stated before. Maybe toward the end game it gets better... Hey Blizzard, the best PVE gear should be in the FINAL RAIDS. No ifs, ands, or butts. Plain and simple. If there's any gear attainable in the open world that rivals end game raid, you're destroying the game. Most WoW people play the game for gear. That's how I am.

So, bring back putting the BIS gear in end raids and kill transmog. I bet 90% of the players feel this way. I don't care two shits about the 13 year old who Blizzard seems to be catering to about this easy arse progression.

Another edit:

This is what I mean.. just look at this cool arse gear that you had to earn and actually wear.

You can look at someone and know where they've been.

Some may not like the look of the shield, but it does scream Ulduar.

Dreadnaught gear is awesome looking and was definitely a status symbol. Ulduar had some of the neatest looking items as well as being a super fun raid. The environment was awesome to look around at.

When WoW released I was accused of being a hacker and the realm forum blew up on me, might be the first HOTFIX I ever made any game do.

NE Hunter in Teldrassil, first month of the game if not sooner and a horde group actually made it there. Had not done any pvp in the game yet and I see them so I send my pet and shadowmeld behind a tree, my pet wiped the group. Turns out there was a bug that if a hunter SM the pet became un-killable.
