Loosely gathered data that they admit is not complete but here are rough numbers for Classic so far:
Over 4 million players in less than a month.

For a hunter there used to be a raid macro to max dps, for the most part they are for min/max players. I use them right now to say "ty", "np" or to find out who is in zone.

you can use them in battlegrounds to auto target a top opposing player as soon as they come within range, or in PvE to get the first hit on a respawning quest objective
I use
/target Name
/cast fire blast.
was helpful at the beginning when multiple groups were going for the same quillboar or centaur for quest obj.
If im corpse camping or hunting a player ill set their name so i know when Im close to them or exactly when they spawn, so I can hide away from their body.

One thing I have noticed is that in the 10-20 zones the chat is as bad as Barrens chat used to be. I though maybe it would be an older player base and more mature, but shite is bad. Higher zones seem to be ok.

I’ve never played, but this thread and a YouTube rabbit hole that led me to MadSeasonShow, has me seriously thinking about it giving it a go. Should I kiss my family goodbye before I start?

Same. I have a 20, an 18, a 12, a 9 and a 5 I think. Just bouncing to what feels fun at the moment. I have leave the guild I've been with since day 1. They're all much higher levels than me and speeding along. I want to battle through the dungeons and not just be dragged through them to loot.

There was an exploit with layering where you could reset raids that would normally be locked and continue to get loot. Basically just farm them like dungeons. Blizz hotfixed it last night and removed all gear/gold associated with it. Players involved in the exploits are getting banned for a month+.
