Replaying Arkham Knight and enjoying the world that Rocksteady Studios has built.

With thier success, how has a Superman openworld game on the level of at least A.K. not been made?

Seems like it would be an incredibly fun game to play.

I'll enjoy seeing their take on Metropolis in that upcoming suicide squad game

Arkham Knight

Never finished it because the Batmobile sections were fricking terrible

But Asylum, City, and Origins, are fricking amazing. Recently replayed Asylum and it still holds up.

i think from a narrative point it would be tough. not sure how you make a game where supe has to fight more than one really tough guy without mopping the floor with everyone.

replace batman with superman in the Arkham games and everything would be over in 10 minutes.

from a satisfying game progression, how do you "level up" superman. batman get better gear throughout and makes sense. superman is born with every power he has.

from a gamer perspective, dont know if id want play as superman. he such a boy scout it would be boring.

Starts off as a younger Clark in Smallville, learing his powers and earing points for your battle tree or whatever. Part of the game could also be under a red sun, or Clark was poisoned with kryptonite, etc. I'm not getting paid to write it but there are creative ways to handle the scenarios.

I agree, that would happen if he appeared in Gotham too at any point. That's why I'd like to see him in his own story and settings.

He still had to learn how to control things, I'd like to focus that on character building. Use points to make his heat vision more powerful, or focus more on flight, strength, xray vision, speed, ice breath, jump, different colors of kryptonite resistance, etc. To be able to customize your own version of superman in an open world Metropolis would be awesome.

wouldn't it be interesting if you could have an "honor system" like RDR, and the way people view you or the way people treat you/interactions/outcomes are based on your decisions of good or of malice..maybe get red kryptonite involved.

What would be the point? Superman presents and odd conundrum for me, i have no idea how it ever became such a popular character.

Just turn god-mode on in GTAV, superman game.

One of the only ways to make a Superman game interesting would be to build in a morality system where you could tread an evil path.

However, this would also counter every facet of what makes Superman the character he is. He can't consciously choose evil or compromise his morals.

From what I can remember, the Superman game on Sega Genesis was a blast.

Which could in itself be its own storyline..say, with Bizarro. Or could've been a tied-in Flashpoint adaptation which could be its own story that hasnt been written yet.. Depending on your choices and morality, you're either battling against or with certain characters.

Say it starts off after superman was poisoned by Lex with kryptonite. He has none of his powers, but is slowly regaining them over time. He has amnesia..maybe lex poisoned him for a good reason..

When you level up, you adjust the focus on what powers he regains faster, and his morality factor can give him certain memories/flashbacks/cutscenes. Either lex was trying to take him out to be a villain, or he tried to kill him to save the world.

Maybe before he was hit with green kryptonite by lex and certain DC heroes workibg together, it's revealed he was on high exposure to red kryptonite. This could give a reason to why they had to be working together against him, if one need be..and why the combination of kryptonites took such a toll on him physically, emotionally and mentally. Etc etc

Anyways..Would be fun to destroy buildings on the map..and have the NPCs who work construction do things like rebuild those buildings and structures over time to only be damaged again, and if you do things like purposely destroy shite, it makes you look bad.

frick it, give me some funding. If you could all see it how I see it you'd love it.

At least you would more than that 64 game

Disagree

..but still, if you feel that way make him interesting through story. It can be done in this type of medium as well.

This is the most likely reason. Without nerfing him for game purposes I think he would need something in the style of DBZ xenoverse.

DC put a lot of handcuffs on the developers of Supes 64 with regards to what powers could be done and so forth, hence the ring races.

I don’t think they have eased up any on things despite the success of the Batman games, Injustice, etc.

Superman's powers have to be nerfed for a game to be interesting and challenging.

I used to watch DBZ as a kid. I started playing DBZ Kakarot several months ago. I don't have the time to game that I used to. So I play it in doses I guess. Even though I know all the main points in the story and how they play out, it's been really fun to play through.

All they need for a Superman game is good combat and a good story. Take him off world for part of it. It should be really easy.
