I think 6 is objectively the best but it's hard to explain the impact of 7 for people who weren't alive or too young at the time.

So far I only played 7, 9, 10, 13,13-2,13-3, and 15.
I really enjoyed 15 even if it isn't a traditional final fantasy.
I still need to play 12, 8 and 10-2.
Of the main series 9 would probably be my favorite.

4, 6, 7, and 9 are the best FF's.
Which one you like is purely a matter of preference as they all are outstanding at what they do.
If those are the only FF games you ever played you'd be all set.

For me 8 - I actually cared about the characters and story. But I just hate random encounters so much...

X was my favorite. I logged so many freaking hours in that game.

Fans of 7 should try the New Threat mod.
New bosses, enemies, items, and several new battle mechanics. It's really challenging as well.

6,7,9,10 are the best by far. I have developed a little bit of a soft spot for FF15 though it got a little too linear during the 2nd half of the game.

It has the best characters overall - Terra, Celeste, Locke, Cyan, Shadow, etc. - the best secret characters not named Vincent, and a Top 5 or 10 villain all time.
The story with the aftermath was great as well, such a great twist to the gameplay. I logged probably 200 hours in that thing.
4 and 10 would be next. And I'm just finishing 9.

Yep, easily the best ensemble character group from any final fantasy. Best villain, great soundtrack, timeless graphics,fantastic storytelling all on top of a pretty fun battle system. I love that game.
