The incredible worlds?

Boss fights?

The drastic bump in quality from the first one?

The awesome start screen?

Great Box Art?

The awesome music?

Incredible game that has it all....

Accidental downvote. Mega Man 2 has it all.

Even the controls are fantastic.

It literally does everything right.

Yeah. It takes everything that drew you in with MM1 and perfected it. Probably the biggest jump in mechanical improvement in the series between games.

I prefer Mega Man 3 myself....

2 is good also. But I feel 3 is the more complete game. And has just as good of a soundtrack

It's such an improvement from the first game, but I'm not sure if it is the best game in the franchise.

3 is outstanding, but I was never a huge fan of the dog mechanic.

I still prefer 2 over 3 but 3 is great.

I liked mega man x the best but what makes it great is the constant weapons/suits change, imo. One of the best things about OoT is getting new shite and changing to blue and red.

The Bit Brigade did an amazing job with the game/soundtrack.

Best Wily Song with Lyrics!
The Awesome Jam Project version

To summarize, Mega Man would have been a great game, but it was a hard side-scroller. There was a definite order, and Level 2 (Guts Man's stage) was significantly harder than all the other stages. Not to mention the real trick to beating the hard Yellow Devil boss (mashing the start button) is in a way you beat no other opponent.

MM2 didn't have such an unbeatable boss, nor was there a specific order for fighting the bosses (MetalMan the WoodMan was a good start, but you could go anywhere after that).
