It's hard to pick just one, so I just made of list of a few I loved.

Super Mario 64
Halo series (kinda cheating, but couldn't decide on one)
Super Smash Bros
DK 64
Gears of War 2

I really liked 8. (but I see it doesnt get much love)

Should I try 7 or 10?
7 had superior writing, and thus a better story.

8 was the better game of the two, all around. The only issue is the story is just dumb and unnecessarily confusing.

10 had a better story all around, but that was when they became almost completely linear. The only truly redeeming quality was Blitzball. Also known as the greatest side-game in FF history.

It's a tie between FF Vlll and FF X. I loved 8's story and Squall is my Fav FF character. But X just had the all around package. Graphics, story, sphere grid, battle system, and atmosphere. Pulled the ole PS2 out of the attick last weekend and am playing X now. Then ima play 8 again as well. Then 9.

No way I can pick just one because they shift around so many times.

Usually comes down between FF 6 and FF 7. I've probably played through FF 6 more times than any other game, with FF 7 a close second. Then there's Chrono Trigger, but playing through again multiple times revealed that game was actually a little short and limited. Still incredible, just not on a FF 6 scale. Of modern games, I've been in love with Mass Effect 2. One of the most polished and enjoyable games to come out in a decade.

And also Earthbound. That game never gets old. So quirky with so much charm.
