Was there a power leveling system more bonkers than FFXIV pre ARR?

There could very well have been. FFXIV was my only experience with that other than partying up with a high level player in a high level area and trying not to die.
1. Same setup, high level player in a party with however many low level players.
2. One of the low level players had to be the party leader.
3. Find an area with a good amount of high level mobs (not too high because the game wouldn't let a level 10 player get XP from a level 50 mob).
4. High level runs around getting aggro from all of them and leads them to one spot.
5. Party leader then kicks the high level player from the party.
6. High level player then proceeds to burn all of the mobs down, preferably with an AOE to get as many at once in order to get the XP boost from chain kills.
7. Even though the player killing them was kicked, the people in the party were the ones that got the XP.
8. ding ding ding ding ding
Maybe that's not "bonkers", but I haven't experienced anything else like that in another game.
Was a good way to kill time/BS and level up classes you didn't feel like playing but needed their shared skills.

The one time i played Diablo i got " power leveled" to max in less than an hour. Haven't touched the franchise since.
When I first played vanilla WoW all you had to do was first hit something high level and have a 60 finish it for you. or maybe it was reverse. so long ago.

In early EQ, a high-level player could buff a newbie with the highest buffs in the game. A druid tossing a Shield of Thorns on a newbie player enabled them to pretty much wipe out all the newbie enemies in the starting zone, adding Chloroplast (regen) and they could do the same in many of the next level zone next door. If you had an ungrouped bard nearby (most bard buffs were AE, not group dependent), the regens stacked and the newbie was practically unkillable (to the trash newbie mobs, at least).
Hours of levelling reduced to 30 minutes or so.
They eventually put a limit on the level difference between buffer and target, but I have no idea what it is.
City of Heroes has a setup where a high-level can /sidekick a lower level player and it brings that player up to their level. It's not quite as good as legitimately being that level, but it does a decent job and I believe the exp acquired is at the mentor's level (which can make for super-quick levelling).

Ummm who's going to tell him? I would assume Diablo 3. Diablo 3 literally doesn't start until max level. Then you endlessly grind for gear until your eyes bleed or you get bored. Leveling is for story and to play testing classes. That's it.

For the most part, that is power leveling in a nutshell. To my knowledge, you can't really do that in WoW or any newer MMORPG.

I just assume it was a glitch in the game they never patched out. We were doing it up until they took XIV down to work on getting ARR up, so they probably weren't too bothered to take it out.

Wish they had something like that now in ffxiv. Quite the pain to level something up outside of the msq.
Crafters aren’t too bad. Just time consuming and/or expensive at times.

I feel like they made it a lot easier with leves and the food bonus? I mean, leveling in those games is always a grind anyways, but not nearly has bad prior to the re-launch.

I level them all very passively. Just doing GC turn ins each day and then beast tribes once they get over 50. I had fisher at 88 before I did my first class quest.
