The roster for Smash is now so fricking big that I’d rather they just spit out what we got last time, combine the two games, and add 8 fighters and a few more stages, and all DLC characters perminantly added to the roster. Seriously, they could charge $100 for that game and people would buy it given how crap would be in that game.

Agreed. And the mechanics were solid. But as much as Nintendo loves double dipping, they seem to protect the Smash main game from that. And they are probably right for it.

I'm with a Port to keep playing the old one, or I'm happy with a whole new version.

Well they did it for Mario Kart, and they directly compromised the Wii U version to not have the Ice Climbers simply because the 3DS couldn’t handle it, which is absurd. If they’ll do it for Mario Kart, I think they’d do it to Smash.

But if Ihad to go with 8 new fighters, it’d be:

1) Inkling (guaranteed)
2) Spring Man
3) Wild Link/Zelda (both same move set)
4) Paper Mario
5) K Rool
6) Shovel Knight
7) Shantae
8) Simon Belmont

But it will not be a true console until they get a minimum development of apps (i.e. Netflix and Internet Browser)

Why does a GAMING console need all that?

Is the Dreamcast not a true console b/c it couldn't play DVDs while the PS2 could?

???

The mini direct was great:

Mario Tennis
Donkey Kong:TF
Dark Souls
Hyrule Warriors (was 1million+ on the WiiU)

He's completely correct. None of these are system selling games and 3 out of 4 are old ports. I mean, I'm sure they'll sell ok. SMO, Zelda, and Splatoon 2 are what has pushed units.

None of that + everything you mentioned later on will have 1/4 of the impact as the top 3 games of 2017 (assuming that Smash is a port as rumored).

But people like those things. It's one of the many reasons why PS2 is the best selling console of all time and likely will never be matched. Why is it odd that people expect features that were implemented by their competition a decade earlier.

It depends on your definition of system seller, though. If you don't think Hyrule Warriors, a game that sold 1.26 million on the Wii U, or Mario Tennis, 1 million on the 3DS and 2.32 million the N64, can move some systems, then you must be limiting system sellers to a small grouping of like Mario, Halo, Call of Duty, Madden, Unchartered....? And no one gets one of those every single year outside of Madden. So again, unfair to say that Nintendo has to have a "system seller" every year if other companies don't.

Mario Tennis at 2.32 Million would be the 6th highest selling game on the PS4...
