Meh. I didn't hate it or think it was a bad game. I haven't replayed it though. I think the biggest drawback for me was the constant sense of dread and being up against a clock. I like exploring aimlessly without a time cap and Majora's Mask is centered around that concept. The story is good and I like all of the in depth side missions.

This what does it for me.
I love that sense of hopelessness.
One reason HL2 really does it for me.

That mechanics make exploring even better. You have these 3 days with events that feed off each other. I used to love this part of exploring, always running up on an event that felt new.

Yeah I don't know if there has been a Zelda game put out that has the same side mission depth that Majora's Mask does. Breath of the Wild had some cool side missions but none of them had the emotion that MM had.

For the longest, like since MM's release I felt as if it was the best Zelda title. But I was blinded by my love for it's atmosphere.
Replayed OoT before the BotW release. I was wrong, OoT is the best Zelda game of all time.
MM is still my "favorite" but OoT is the "better" game.

I went back and played OoT for the first time in over a decade recently. I was nervous that it wouldn't hold up but it still is an incredible game. It's my favorite game of all time.
The only game that has ever come close to dethroning it is The Witcher 3. I've never been so drawn in and consumed by a game and story like I was with that one.

I get why people wouldn't consider it near the top, but it's the one I could still go back to at any point and play. Midna is one of the greater characters in all of the Zelda universe IMHO.
