i digitally downloaded the game yesterday afternoon as well. 51.9GB i believe? maybe 55.
Didn't get a chance to see if I was in the same predicament as you with the update patch, but will at lunch today. I'll report back.
I wanted to stay up to 11 and play, but I was sleepy as hell last night. Looks like it worked out for the best anyhow with the servers being crap the first night.

Yeah it seems like servers are always dogshit the first night with all new games.

yep. kind of almost expected now.
but if the 2K15 servers bounced back in a week, I have full confidence that Bungie can get this show on the road pretty quickly.

bungie has it's own dedicated servers.
2k uses a 3rd party company to manage their servers.

No it is what Microsoft wants to do well, but can't. Amazon is probably top dog still, then there are a few others that have been doing longer than MS so they have a head start.
