Are you trolling or are you just that much wrapped up in Microsoft?

Well trolling a little with the email snooping.

I have no faith in a long term plan for Sony beyond the console wars. It does not appear apparent for the "now people", but MSFT has a better long term vision and plan.

Years from now all that will be left is Microsoft gaming and Taco Bell.

I agree with this, actually.

IF they play it right, but they are better positioned than Sony to attack full home entertainment. The connection between Live/Windows 10 and maybe the ability to play games from any screen in a home is a big, big thing that people don't realize.

Everyone should be looking at Windows 10, the movement to multiple screen homes, and the ability to stream and realize that the end game is not that every room has a TV - But that every room has a screen (hello Echo Shows), from which you fling media to. We're already halfway there. MS can bridge it all under one platform.

If Nintendo stays down the multi-use console path, for now, this is the thing that kills it. When the Xbox can be played from the Echo Show like device anywhere. Bedroom, Bathroom, maybe even a mobile tablet screen. The same mobile tablet screen that controls the home.

Then we move to Wallpaper screens....

It makes buying an Xbox one useless. What would you rather get: an Xbox one X which can only play Xbox games or spend a few hundred more and buy a PC which can play Xbox and PC Exclusives. Atleast with the PS4 you get a unique expérience with its exclusives, while Xbox you get a chopped down PC experience.

I feel like people have been saying things like this since the dawn of time.

Power, price and exclusives push consoles. I don't see that changing anytime soon. But everyone wants to be a visionary.

Atari had all the exclusives, then Nintendo, then Sega (a few), then Sony, then Xbox, then Sony again - the future is not set.

Those changes above also came with a bit of revolution and not evolution. The PS3 -> PS4 and X360 -> X1 was more evolution in the end. Here are some more powerful consoles, but the rules of usage remained the same.

In Microsoft's defense, they tried a little revolution with Kinect 2.0 and it digital plan. It ended badly for them and the sales figures showed. The organized Sony revolt to the X1 plans worked.

Microsoft has more resources and vision, so it would be wrong to assume they will never come back.

This debate has been had here and everywhere else on the Internet. Yes PC gaming is great, but not for everyone.

I have no idea the current numbers, but last year of the gamers in the USA - 52% played PC and 41% on consoles.

I gamed on a PC in my youth through the early 2000s and then said screw it. I found my PS1 and eventually Xbox filled my needs.

I am not saying they can't come back from this. I wasn't even talking about Microsoft in general. Just the idea that gamers want more than those 3 things. Price point, Power/graphics, Exclusive games. What console gives the best medium of those 3 normally wins. Outside of the Wii which was a phenomenon (Had a very low price point)

IMO Microsoft needs to start investing into first party studios. Sony is killing them in that department.

The majority of Sony's great exclusives are owned by Sony. Those won't be coming obviously.

I do think the recent purchase of Obsidian is a good move even if the Outer Worlds is multiplatform.

Yup. Microsoft could of undone the negative pub by locking down exclusives. They are on that path now, but it is a mighty big hill to climb.

The Bungie divorce and letting Sony get exclusives with them and also Call of Duty partnerships hurt as well.

That's fair.

Of course.

You're leaving out access, this is why mobile game is successful (Access flexibility+those things is the golden ticket), it's one of the reasons the Switch is successful. I know sic craps on the ports and indie releases, but those are killing it on the Switch because they allowed for flexible access. If I could play my Xbox outside of the home on my laptop while traveling, I might not travel with my Switch (play it well).

Microsoft has massively reinvested into 1st party studios and done everything in their power to fix their mistakes. Next gen they will reap the rewards and get back on the horse.

It should be better, but they let Sony dig them a big hole.

I wish they would stick to some of their revolutionary items though, not matter what. Kinnect was actually pretty cool and I still user on my X1 launch console. The illumiroom project was going to be pretty badass for more immersive gaming shy of VR.

Hololens gaming I still think could be next level.
Youtube home built Street Fighter on Hololens

I may be in the minority, but I feel AR > VR.

GB talks up this game but I honestly never spent much time.

Do you like it or does GB talk it up too much.

You mean Giant Bomb?

I'll admit they got me super interested in the game (the Hitsmas series every year is the best), but I genuinely love the games. The only one that ever stuck with me was the original Hitman 2 but I've always loved the concept of the games.

Best part of these games is the different challenges per level. You can finish a level and then go back and decide you want to take the targets out in a completely new manner in terms of disguise and weapon/method of choice.

I'm a few missions into the latest game and it's pretty much a more polished version of the first one but still great. I killed a guy by launching a mini-sub into him. It's the best.

Imagine living in 2019 and still thinking the Xbox is better than the PlayStation. The 91 million PS4s sold vs the 43 million XBox Ones says otherwise.

Man I totally get it.

Losing Bungie as a first party developer, killing a few first party development houses, and the red ring of death fiasco was enough to for a lot of people me included.

Launching with weaker hardware and no truly great first party games was a bad way to start this current cycle.

PS4 simply has the best games and it's not even debatable.

I truly hope MSFT addresses the weakness of lacking great exclusive games a Lot more with the next console.

Can't argue with that statement.

Even if you set aside the issue with Nintendo being fine with dated technology they offer things in statement then quietly remove the offerings.
Ex: Nintendo claimed they would offer GC games on WiiU, never happened.
Ex: Nintendo stated the would allow two of the tablet style controllers on the same attention for multiplayer games. Never happened.

I bought a second WiiU for my 4 year old daughter, on for her room, and one for the living room.

All her games are downloaded purchased games.
The profile used for those games purchased can on only be used on that first console so all the digital purchased games must be bought again under a different profile for the second machine

Just terrible decisions all around.
