Just a heads-up, Epic is giving away the game Subnautica for free for the next couple of weeks. Only "catch" is you need to install the Epic Games launcher to install/run it. I've heard really good things about this game but never pulled the trigger on it. Looking forward to trying it out!!

Link's in this PC Gamer article

Apparently they are going to try to build a service similar to Steam (except paying developers a higher percentage of the cut). They also plan on giving away games regularly. Will be interesting to see how it pans out, but if this is any indication of future things, it's good reason to be excited!

Trying it out now. Seems pretty fun at times, but have to be in the mood to play games like that.

I played this game on Oculus VR, one of the scary monster fish about made me crap my pants.

Very solid game, I’ve played it a lot.

I love this game. You have to like open world survival building games with minimal hand holding, which I do.

Hell, I've had it a few years. Played it last Christmas then they finally released the full game so I had to play it all over again in January.

I think I have about 300 to 400 hours in this one. Basically broke the game in my last play by building a base on one side of the map then building hallways all the way to the other side and attaching it to another base.

The steam sale starts in three days, nobody should be paying for games right now.

I love the game but it isn't for everyone. It really is a straight up build bases and keep exploring deeper and deeper. You are alone on the planet so you get the backstory from recordings you find.

Graphics and atmosphere are really great. This was the first successful early access game I purchased. It was worth every penny unlike the other early access games I've played.

Just reloaded the game.

For folks new to the game, it is disorienting because there is no map. This is good and bad. If you don't mind being lost a good bit of the time it is good because it helps build the atmoshphere and really makes you learn your surroundings.

If you feel like quitting because you are always lost, you can build buoys to mark key positions. If that isn't good enough, there is a mod map.

One mod that I wouldn't consider a cheat would be the extra quick slot mod. It really is a pain to have to keep swapping out inventory items in the quick slot bar so someone made a mod that can extend the slots for all of the items you use all of the time.

See ya. I'm back in the ocean for the next 12 hours.

Thanks for the tips!! Finally got around to trying it out and I love the atmosphere. It is absolutely terrifying to me swimming in unknown waters like that. Looking forward to digging into it when I have some free time!

Also, today (12/27) looks loke the last day to take advantage of this, so if you have any interest at all, it's worth grabbing for free!
